What We Now KNOW About TWA Flight 800

A Pair of Lawsuits Promise to Expose the Truth Behind the July 1996 Disaster.

On July 17, 1996, TWA 800, a Paris-bound 747, blew up ten miles off Long Island’s south shore, killing all 230 souls on board. In the days leading up to the anniversary, I will share some fresh insights on this tragedy and the much too successful cover-up that followed.

After 25 years investigating the destruction of TWA Flight 800, I have learned to temper my enthusiasms. That said, I continue to take heart when I see signs of life. Perhaps the most promising development in the case is the progression through the courts of Krick v. Raytheon.

Ronald Krick is the father of Oliver Krick, a 25-year-old student flight engineer killed in the crash. Krick has been joined in the suit by relatives of other deceased passengers and crew. The defendants are the Raytheon Company, the Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the United States government.

The Krick suit gained momentum when it absorbed information gleaned from a FOIA suit brought by Tom Stalcup, a no-nonsense physicist who has been pursuing this case since he was a grad student in 1996. To establish his claims Stalcup was granted subpoena power and was able to depose several key witnesses from within the investigation.

Stalcup appeared in the 2001 documentary, Silenced, produced by me and my late partner James Sanders. In 2013 Stalcup and the late Kristina Borjesson, formerly of CBS News, produced the excellent documentary, TWA Flight 800. What follows are extended passages from Krick v. Raytheon.

—On July 17, 1996, a Boeing 747 headed for Paris took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at around 8:20 p.m. Within twelve minutes of takeoff, the plane exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island, New York. All 230 passengers and crew members perished.

—After the incident, the federal government released a false report contending that the explosion was the result of an electrical fire in the airplane’s center fuel tank.

—Only recently, thanks to the work of physicist, Dr. Thomas Stalcup, through his Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) litigation in Massachusetts federal court, has evidence emerged proving that TWA 800’s explosion was not caused by any defect in the airplane, but instead by an errant United States missile fired at aerial target drones flying nearby.

—The evidence unearthed by Dr. Stalcup establishes that the United States, including its agencies, such as the United States Missile Defense Agency (formerly known as the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization), the United States Department of Defense, and the United States Navy (the “Government Defendants”), acting in concert and working side-by-side with Raytheon Company and Lockheed Martin Corporation (the “Contractor Defendants”) and DOES 1 through 20, inclusive (collectively the “Defendants”) were testing the Aegis Weapons System and firing SM-2 missiles with live warheads from warship(s) at aerial missile targets off the coast of New York in close proximity to commercial airline flight paths. One such missile struck TWA flight 800, causing it to break apart and crash into the Atlantic Ocean, killing everyone aboard.

—Newly discovered evidence also shows that these Defendants engaged in a top-down cover-up to prevent the public from learning the truth about TWA 800. Proof of this cover-up, and of Defendants’ underlying culpability for the crash, was only recently unearthed by Dr. Stalcup after more than a decade of FOIA litigation against the Government Defendants.....SNIP

Ask the 100 people and they all saw something and you’ll get 100 different answers.

Per Science: Mass eyewitness accounts can be unreliable due to various factors that affect memory, such as suggestion and the stress of the situation.

Research indicates that eyewitness misidentifications are a leading cause of wrongful convictions, highlighting the need for caution in relying on such testimony.

“IRCC, there was an audit of all SM-2 missiles after this happened. No missiles were unaccounted for. BTW, there is a requirement for all missiles to be signed for by an officer who is financially liable if any are missing.”

Says who? Those who have such trusted credibility they can’t account for billions of dollars missing? There is a counter intelligence officer on every deck... You know that.

95% of the witnesses did NOT see a “missile”.

The most logical explanation is that something attracted their attention and they saw the burning object (the plane) going up after the first explosion.

The Navy’s Pinecastle Impact Range in the Ocala National Forest is the only place on the East Coast where the Navy can do live impact training. The Navy drops nearly 20,000 bombs a year at the site, a few hundred of which are live. The Navy has used nearly 6,000 acres of the 382,000-acre forest for target practice for 50 years under a special use permit from the US Forest Service.

200 live rounds per year on this one small 6000 acre range.

All depends on what you’re working with, where you’re working and why.

“There is a counter intelligence officer on every deck... You know that.”

I didn’t know that! But then I only served on a submarine and an aircraft carrier.

Haven’t ever driven a tow truck.

“All depends on what you’re working with, where you’re working and why.”

My reference was to active duty ships in normal operations.

That is something my daughter did share with me. There is a Naval spook counter intelligence representative on every deck to defuse any counterproductive scuttlebutt before it goes too far. Even in the Naval hospitals and clinics she worked. Especially when she was at China Lake. Counter intelligence was literally in triage issuing approved statements and talking points as the injured were brought in. If you are not familiar China Lake is a not your average duty station.

I had a different hypothesis

I worked for another aerospace company that was developing a sub launched anti air missile

The new tech in that missile seeker was that it would go after the largest solid object in the sky. The sub did not need to know exactly where the aircraft was. They could hear it and launch before sonobuoys were deployed

That new sensor could not be countered by chaff, flares, or traditional means

A pair of these missiles could be launched in a canister from a torpedo tube

Witnesses said there were two missiles rising and that no vessels were on the surface

The program went black but the timing of such a test would fit

Also black programs don’t alert the prez or SecDef about tests

Perhaps this news story is to confuse the public

No, your wrong. Ha ha 😂 Happy not to be arguing with you over the safe and effective vaccine that I’m thankful to have never taken.

Please explain why I’m wrong. You can start by providing your background in military law. How many hours of instruction have you had in military law?

Is it time to dive into Flight 370 yet?

The video in this article is quite intriguing...

This isn’t a matter of counter intelligence. It is a matter of military law.
Do you have any experience in accounting for missile systems?
Do you have any experience in military law?

No, but I do understand government in general. Everything they do is based on corruption and/or incompetence. Everything...

So you believe the center fuel tank exploded because the plane was sitting too long at the airport on a hot day? The running air conditioners heated up the fuel tanks and the explosive hot jet fuel oxygen mixture was ignited by static electricity? Do you also believe that the plane rose like a rocket after it exploded? You know video explanation of what people saw that night. Yes, I believe military personal are able to keep their mouths shut. After thinking about it for years and years, I don’t believe that the Navy would be capable of such an accident. Too good at what they do.

“The plane had dropped into the restricted airspace to avoid another incoming aircraft. It was at 10K feet when hit and climbed up afterward. The restricted airspace was a weapons testing zone.”

Did you just make all that up?

“ignited by static electricity?”

Nobody is saying that? Why suggest that?

“Do you also believe that the plane rose like a rocket after it exploded? “

It rose because with the cockpit section having separated, the CG shifted putting the plane in a “nose-up” climb.

“Yes, I believe military personal are able to keep their mouths shut.”

Were you in the military?

I was. A lot of scuttlebutt gets passed along, particularly after a few beers.

You’re changing the subject.
I do not believe the US Navy shot down TWA 800.
I do believe an order to do so would be illegal and unenforceable.
I believe an order to conduct a cover up by Navy personnel would be illegal and unenforceable.

I have large reservations about a boat load of terrorists shooting down TWA 800.
