A Pair of Lawsuits Promise to Expose the Truth Behind the July 1996 Disaster.
On July 17, 1996, TWA 800, a Paris-bound 747, blew up ten miles off Long Island’s south shore, killing all 230 souls on board. In the days leading up to the anniversary, I will share some fresh insights on this tragedy and the much too successful cover-up that followed.
After 25 years investigating the destruction of TWA Flight 800, I have learned to temper my enthusiasms. That said, I continue to take heart when I see signs of life. Perhaps the most promising development in the case is the progression through the courts of Krick v. Raytheon.
Ronald Krick is the father of Oliver Krick, a 25-year-old student flight engineer killed in the crash. Krick has been joined in the suit by relatives of other deceased passengers and crew. The defendants are the Raytheon Company, the Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the United States government.
The Krick suit gained momentum when it absorbed information gleaned from a FOIA suit brought by Tom Stalcup, a no-nonsense physicist who has been pursuing this case since he was a grad student in 1996. To establish his claims Stalcup was granted subpoena power and was able to depose several key witnesses from within the investigation.
Stalcup appeared in the 2001 documentary, Silenced, produced by me and my late partner James Sanders. In 2013 Stalcup and the late Kristina Borjesson, formerly of CBS News, produced the excellent documentary, TWA Flight 800. What follows are extended passages from Krick v. Raytheon.
—On July 17, 1996, a Boeing 747 headed for Paris took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at around 8:20 p.m. Within twelve minutes of takeoff, the plane exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island, New York. All 230 passengers and crew members perished.
—After the incident, the federal government released a false report contending that the explosion was the result of an electrical fire in the airplane’s center fuel tank.
—Only recently, thanks to the work of physicist, Dr. Thomas Stalcup, through his Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) litigation in Massachusetts federal court, has evidence emerged proving that TWA 800’s explosion was not caused by any defect in the airplane, but instead by an errant United States missile fired at aerial target drones flying nearby.
—The evidence unearthed by Dr. Stalcup establishes that the United States, including its agencies, such as the United States Missile Defense Agency (formerly known as the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization), the United States Department of Defense, and the United States Navy (the “Government Defendants”), acting in concert and working side-by-side with Raytheon Company and Lockheed Martin Corporation (the “Contractor Defendants”) and DOES 1 through 20, inclusive (collectively the “Defendants”) were testing the Aegis Weapons System and firing SM-2 missiles with live warheads from warship(s) at aerial missile targets off the coast of New York in close proximity to commercial airline flight paths. One such missile struck TWA flight 800, causing it to break apart and crash into the Atlantic Ocean, killing everyone aboard.
—Newly discovered evidence also shows that these Defendants engaged in a top-down cover-up to prevent the public from learning the truth about TWA 800. Proof of this cover-up, and of Defendants’ underlying culpability for the crash, was only recently unearthed by Dr. Stalcup after more than a decade of FOIA litigation against the Government Defendants.....SNIP
Ask him if he knows anything about intrinsically safe sensors. Ask him how much current is required to cause local heating or sparks, sufficient to ignite jet fuel. Then ask him the current available to a sensor.
Fuel sensors simply cannot ignite jet fuel in an oxygen-depleted tank. Other than those sensors, no other electrical harnesses would be in a position to produce heat or sparks at the tanks. Besides, aircraft wiring is fused multiple times.
Your friend is misinformed or lying, not to mention unaware of how aircraft systems work.

Liquid fuel won't light. "Vapors" from Jet fuel won't light. Only a fine mist of fuel will light.
Jet engines spray fuel into their combustion chamber in the form of a fine mist. That's why it burns in jet engines.
But please don't take my word for it. There is a guy that puts on an excellent demonstration on Youtube in which he tests various fuels, and among them he tests Diesel, Kerosene, Jet Fuel, and Fuel Oil. (Also normal gasoline and Aviation gasoline.)
I urge you to watch his video. You will come away with a better understanding that what we have been told about the center fuel tank exploding is just a lie.

Although I do not agree about where the missile came from, I would like to add that not only does fuel have to be atomized it also has to be compressed until it reaches a temp high enough through kinetic energy/operating temp to self-ignite.
Diesel engines when cold even need to be preheated before they will auto-ignite the fuel. Jet engines require an igniter to keep it burning until the compression and operating temp becomes high enough for the self-ignition to sustain itself and keep burning.
I believe it would be impossible for the government to cover up a Navy ship shooting down a civilian airliner in US Coastal waters.
It requires too many men who are accomplices to the act to remain silent. It requires the falsification of logs and other data. It is just too onerous to get that many people to hide the fact they murdered a civilian airliner.
But covering up the fact that Iranian mercenaries did it is apparently withing the realm of possible.

You’re missing the point that no personnel have come forward admitting there was a launch. No launch, no distruction. Hundreds of personnel would have known there was a launch.
Any order to forbid disclosing such a launch would have been an illegal order.

Arc from a wire will do it NTSB has it right they don’t make mistakes or guesses.
This is why I have an issue with the “accidental” missile hit theory. Normally, Accidents happen you admit them, the government pays reparations, the military people involved get court martialed, congress passes a few laws about not doing live fire tests in crowded air spaces...and yes Clinton probably still would have been re-elected. People wouild have been angry but wide open transparency would have caused the story to die down to a nothing burger after 6 months or a year...crap happens, everyone knows that. A few persistent cranks might have seen a spook in every unexplained nuance but they are the same type who say we never went to the moon or that the Earth is flat!
Yet the conditions you described with the take over by the FBI and then the CIA involvment speaks to me of a panic stricken all hands on deck deep state response to cover up why the airliner was brought down.
Now if this cover up was simply done at the behest of a president who feared the loss of his re-election then that is one more bit of reprehensible malfeasence that needs to be laid at the Clintons’ archive of shame. He needn’t have tried to cover up if the president didn’t order it done.
Yet I believe it was ordered to be done by Clinton or someone he trusted in his command structure with the president’s knowledge. It’s been 29 years so surely it should be safe enough to speak of the existential to the USA threat that made it necessary to shoot the plane down. It would be sad news but it would have been understandable had such a threat existed.
However with the Clintons, I believe what motivated the shoot down would have been reasons that were founded in pure corruption, greed, and politics. Reasons that he feared would come under harsh judgment had not the law enforcement and intelligence agencies been dispatched to bury this story and to try to erase it from the American public’s memory!

No need. All someone needs to know/remember is that the USS Whatever fired a/an SM-2 on x-date at x-time.
I have a source, and I absolutely trust what he told me. He provided some supporting evidence, but I cannot tell you what it is because it would make it too easy for them to figure out who he is and punish him.
I had asked him to do an interview with Jack Cashill (whom I had communicated with about this issue through email) but my friend declined. He said it wasn't worth the risk to his life and career.
He probably would have never spoke of it if we hadn't all been drunk and talking about "Conspiracy Theories."
This was around the time we were still speculating about Obama's fake birth certificate. He said he only knew of one actual "conspiracy" in his own life. With some prodding, he told us about his experience with the shootdown coverup of flight 800.
It was a fascinating story, and he probably regrets ever telling us about it. I know I would be sweating if I had told people this story which *I* was involved in. The US government can get pretty mean with people they think broke the rules.
I was there. In Norwalk Connecticut. A light “something” went up to that plane before I saw a fireball.
With 100% of myself, that plane was shot down but unless I didn’t understand the trajectory the “missile” was much slower than an aegis.
