I played a lot of Feudal and Diplomacy in the 70s. I didn’t play games like Panzer Blitz and Squad Leader until the 80s.

Not exactly mainstream, but baseball board games from Strat-O-Matic and APBA were quite popular. So were the various bookshelf board games from Avalon Hill, which included many war game scenarios.

Chutes and ladders, Monopoly, Perfection, Hungry Hippo, Operation, Mouse Trap, it goes on and on. Some of the I played as a kid in the 60s, and then I played them with my kids in the 80s and 90s.
FUN TIMES!

Pay Day definitely belongs. Perhaps I’d drop Master Mind if I had to.

Monopoly was next...made you greedy.

Careers was popular in our house. We found 3 different
versions over the years and we played them all. We still
have that game and it gets played by adults and kids on
game night. We also have several of the others mentioned, too.

Man I loved Strat O Matic. Before I’d ever heard of fantasy baseball, I would take my strat cards to school and we’d have a draft. I’d charge a buck a team. Then I’d go home every night and play teams against each other solitaire style and bring the box scores and cumulative stats to school the next day.
My desk in homeroom was always mobbed.
Thanks for the memory.
