How is it that these two had the money to travel to and lodge in Dubai, but didn’t know any better than to not be caught “en flagrante” there? The girl’s mother seems to have thrown caution out the window, tattling on her daughters activities. Both could have gotten locked up for quite a while. It reads like the girl was not punished.
You don’t go to Dubai for your teenage rendezvous. Even Izmir, Turkey may be a better choice.

Mom overreacted, in my opinion. I don’t even have children, but I enjoyed my teen years, in the same way most kids do while still in high school. My parents kind of expected this as a sign their son was growing up. So long as I was respectful.

I am stunned he got out so soon. Dubai, like most of the Arab world, is very racist against Blacks. An American Black woman was detained for "assault" for nearly 2 years for merely touching a (female Arab) customs officer in Dubai to get her attention. It appears the boy's family is wealthy, so a payoff was likely made.
