My niece attended Camp Mystic when she was a child. A few years ago, one of my daughters expressed interest in going as well, but the cost of attendance was steep.
The camp sits in a stunning corner of the Texas Hill Country, a place of remarkable beauty that can become deadly in a matter of minutes.
Some may refer to it as a hundred-year or even a 500-year flood event. In reality, it’s closer to a 40-year flood and for something that occurs that frequently, precautions must be taken every single year.
I had concerns when I saw NYT is writin about it. Still do I guess since I can’t read article.
My unhinged lunatic cousin is already saying this is President Trump’s fault for defunding the NWS.
Wasn’t it like 10 years or so ago that the Guadalupe River flood was even higher than this time???
If so, was this Camp Mystic flooded in this bigger flood?
If Camp Mystic was flooded in the last big flood, then why were they still allowed to be a summer campsite?
Great video of the river as it rises.
