North Dakota actually put this to a state referendum vote.

Two-thirds of voters voted against it.

Texas lives on property taxes.

The Texas RINO brigade here will be proclaiming the end of the world and such.

<>States will not buy into this...<>

Maybe not.

But, the FL legislature recently formed a committee to study getting rid of property taxes on homesteaded property.

The committee will report its findings in September.

DeSantis is on board with the concept.

States will not buy into this...

The states were stupid when they supported the 17th ammendment. The states' senators were designed to protect the power of states. Why did they give up their power?

I’ve always thought property taxes were a bad idea, but if states can’t tax property then they will have to figure out some other revenue through taxation. This “other way” may drastically affect seniors living on social security who were not paying property tax before, but might then be paying some form of tax they can’t possibly afford. If you are living on Social Security & are at the low end of those payments, you don’t have much to begin with. For instance, what if states who do not put a sales tax on food decide to do so? What then? That would hit just about anybody that eats. It would be disastrous for some.
