ICE agents have set up shop at NYC immigration court and have been clearing it out on a daily basis. Activists are appalled, calling these deportation arrests illegal and immoral, however proponents say ICE remains within their legal authority to deport people who do not have permission to live in America... especially after due process has concluded. It’s the person’s responsibility to ensure they are incompliance with their stay.

However, I did learn that I could use ICE to overstay my vacation and get a free flight home, so I only have to pay for a one way ticket to my vacay destination should I ever come and visit the States.

After a final order of removal has been issued there is zero reason why an alien is not automatically remanded to the custody of ICE.

They are what we call in the business ‘Likely to abscond’ as they have no reason to ever come back to court, the case has been adjudicated. No bond or bail can be issued.

If they want to appeal their removal order they can do it from their home country.
