Star Trek legend Peter-Henry Schroeder has died aged 90.

The American actor was best known from Star Trek: Enterprise, the 2000s TV iteration of the long-running sci-fi series which ran for four seasons.

Peter is reported to have 'passed away peacefully' in June while surrounded by members of his family at the Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Centre in Florida.

His cause of death is unknown at this point.

Deadline reports that during his final days, Peter-Henry was repeatedly asking when he was going to be allowed out of hospital and back to work.

He asked doctors and his family: 'When are you going to get me out of here? I've got to get back to LA [to work].'

He is survived by his daughter Valerie Lynn and his son Peter Henry II, his daughter-in-law Felicia Cristiani Bass, and his grandsons Peter Henry III and Jarrid Michael.

Tributes have been pouring in, with the Star Trek fan page Redshirts Always Die writing: 'Our thoughts are with Schroeder's family and loved ones.'

Another fan tweeted with a crying emoji: 'Peter-Henry Schroeder, a veteran character actor best known to Star Trek fans for his role in Star Trek: Enterprise, Peter-Henry as Gunslinger, has died at the age of 90.'

His funeral will take place in LA with Military Honours, where he will be laid to rest at the VA National Cemetery.

The family have asked that instead of flowers, condolences be shared through the Human Animal Life Foundation.

His memorial page reported that Schroeder appreciated his life and stated: 'I had a long and rich life, and I thank God for it.'

Before acting, he spent time in the US Army, and was in active duty during the prolonged Korean War, which ended in 1953.

Good one! Just the other day I was reading the online biography of Roger Carmel. He played Harry Mudd on the original Star Trek series, twice. Yeah, the guy’s a legend.

Darth Vader wasn’t in Star Trek.

Ha! next you'll say Luke Skywalker wasn't either. And how do you explain the light saber duel between Capt. Kirk and Khan?

The Cylon wasn’t an artifact of Star Trek.

I had to look him up. He played in exactly 2 TWO episodes.

That's all it takes to be a legend to the neo-trekkies.

Let us also remember Egbert Sen (1932 – 2019) who played Willrow Hood (Ice Cream Maker Guy) in 1980's Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

At least Guy Fleegman was given a name. This guy was in 2 episodes as just “Klingon Chancellor”.
