The first photos of “Alligator Alcatraz” give a bleak inside look at the new migrant center deep in the Florida Everglades — as authorities prepare to stash up to 5,000 detainees in wire cages there.
Video taken during a tour by President Trump on Tuesday revealed rows upon rows of empty industrial metal bunk beds enclosed in hastily constructed cages made up of chain fences.
“[President] Biden wanted me in here, that son of a b—h,” President Trump said jokingly Tuesday as he was shown around the vast secure facility hidden within the subtropical wetlands of South Florida teeming with alligators, crocodiles and pythons.

Alligator Alcatraz
isn’t it true an illegal can say they want to leave and be given a one way flight back to their home country at any time?
They have a/c. Honestly in the middle of a swamp in FL in the summer people would die in those tents with out it.
we don’t want our gaurds harmed.
What’s the “controversy”??? They should be happy they aren’t shot as they would be if invading most countries.
I think the floor is stained concrete. We had a stained concrete deck similar to that when we had our pool built. (Our colors were more subtle, but it looks like the same process was used.)
Sorry. The Fountainbleu in Miami was booked up.
LOL....so what? They aren’t going to be there for very long anyway.👍
Yep. President Trump said yesterday they could be at the gates of this place and request to self deport and it would be allowed......you won’t be hearing that from the fake news of course
These guys get air conditioning.
And real tile is used more in the south...and of course...in every Italian home worldwide.
really!? I’ve seen straight color stains often! But never multicolored like this!! ..if that’s indeed the case it had to be pretty pricey to do!!
It’s been a while, but IIRC, they used a stencil and sprinkled the color powder into each opening.
I imagine “maryland man” will arrive here and exit here. Back to whence he came.
How long before RAT congress critters show up? AOC will show up in tears.
“On carriers the sailors hot rack,”
Were you ever on a carrier?
btt!!
Much better than Brandon’s detention center in Arizona....flimsy tents and no AC.
“Were you in the U.S. Navy? I served onboard the USS Independence (CV 62) and we never hot racked.”
I asked him similar.
I never saw hot banking on the Enterprise.
I did see some on subs but it was the exception, not the rule.
It’s a decommissioned airport (built in the Everglades to allow for supersonic planes to do their sonic booms away from population centers - but when supersonic planes died off the airport’s purpose died with it), so that may just be whatever the floor was originally.
My daughter’s is like that...it’s nice....but crappy compared to real stone. They now regret that they didn’t use real stone.
you’re getting me going!! lol... I’ve done tile and matble fo 40+ years and all sorts of other types in between. I know the stencils you speak of, BUT!!! thats one of the first things I looked for in that floor is a repeated pattern!! 2x2, 4x4, 6x6 etc... there is no noticeable repeat, and the backsplash wall at the back of the room has the same design/coating.
Ive seen a lot, but this one/concept is interesting to me.
I couldn’t wait and asked Co-Pilot and this is what it said... It first gave me the structural specs of the building and I responded with “No not the structure or subfloor. what is the cosmetic flooring material? (It’s guessing I think...)

Ah, got it—you’re talking about the *visual finish*, not the structural base. The cosmetic flooring used in the new Alligator Alcatraz facility **resembles tile**, but it’s actually a **high-durability vinyl composite** or **printed epoxy laminate** designed to *look* like ceramic or stone tile without the weight, fragility, or installation time.
Here’s what’s likely going on underfoot:
🧩 **Tile-Look Vinyl or Linoleum**
- It’s probably **luxury vinyl tile (LVT)** or **sheet vinyl** with a printed tile pattern.
- These materials are **seamless, water-resistant, and easy to sanitize**, which is ideal for a high-humidity, high-traffic environment like the Everglades.
- The faux grout lines and textured surface give it a **convincing tile appearance** without the risk of cracking or chipping.
🧪 **Epoxy Resin Coating**
- Some areas may use **epoxy flooring with embedded tile patterns** or decals.
- This creates a **monolithic, slip-resistant surface** that’s easy to clean and extremely durable.
- It’s often used in medical tents, disaster relief shelters, and industrial kitchens.
🎯 **Why Not Real Tile?**
- Real tile is heavy, brittle, and requires a rigid subfloor—not ideal for FEMA trailers or soft-sided structures.
- The cosmetic flooring here is all about **speed, hygiene, and visual order**, not luxury.
If you’re thinking of replicating this look for a project—say, a garage, trailer, or utility space—I can help you find materials that match the aesthetic but are easier to install and maintain. Want to explore some options?
