It was an ordinary day at the beach of the Fort Morgan Peninsula in Baldwin County, Alabama late last week. That was, until beachgoers watched a mysterious bundle bobbing in the water. Swimmers dragged it onto the shore and called the police.

Testing confirmed that it was $1.5 million worth of cocaine.

Authorities are now investigating the incident. The bundle reportedly contained 50 individually wrapped kilos and weighed 110 pounds. It had been in the water for so long that barnacles were attached to it.

In the late 70s and on into the 80s it wasn’t uncommon for bales of marijuana to wash up on the beaches where I am in north Florida.....many times multiple bales.

If a person was quick and brave enough they could get down to the beach and snag a little before the local authorities showed up......well, that’s what I heard anyway. 😏

Exactly. Dope washing up onto a beach is unheard of!

I was guessing George Conway's lost dignity.

Drugs bundles wash up regularly.

It used to be pot, and t-shirts like this were a thing.

That goes back 40+ years or so.

Growing up in South Florida, square grouper - AKA large bales of pot - would wash up periodically on our beach. The smart thing to do was call the police and have them take it away. Every once in a while someone would get greedy.

One of the kids that went to our school found such a treasure and went into business for himself. He used the proceeds to buy a Firebird.

Within a week it was on fire in our student parking lot.

The message was clear...don’t take what isn’t yours.

You Won't Believe What Washed Ashore at This Alabama Beach

When do I get to the part I won't believe?

I hate headlines that tell me what my emotional response will be. Just tell me what happened. For example "$1.5 million of cocaine washed ashore on Alabama beach".< /Rant>

Most of the garbage and recycling barrels were removed to mitigate potential security concerns as well as stolen. Beaches are raked every night to get rid of the days trash.

It’s not so much the location. I’m just sick and tired of headline writers telling me how I must feel rather than just giving me facts. If I were surprised, shocked or enraged even 10% of the time I’m required to be my heart would have exploded.
