BTW What an unfortunate surname for the young lady writer 😂
But, didn't GE have a huge appliance manufacturing facility there before? Or am I thinking of Whirlpool?
That is a start.
Yes. As long as I remembered.
I think they both did…?
Me too BTW.
And the correct pronunciation is “Lu-E-Vill”. You were deceived by Mayor for life Abramson and the West End.
If GE appliances only made something good.
Looks like the article left a bit out if the info below is accurate...
“...The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA), the state’s incentives board, amended subsidies already in place for the broader Appliance Park operation at a meeting in Frankfort Thursday morning. In all, those incentives now stand at $113.5 million...”
NYS has spent billions bribing companies to site/stay.
NYS is still an economic wasteland.
True that
No. It’s “Loo - ah - vull”
I’m confused. I thought GE sold most of the appliance park to the Chinese company, Haerer (sp?) a few years ago ? I was unaware of a remaining GE presence. I know the refrigerator portion was divested
Yea. They did. It’s now “GE Appliances, a Haier Company”
It’s now 100% Chinese owned. They just kept the “GE brand” name for marketing purposes.
This is an investment by a Chinese company.
Looks like I have to bring my big guns out.

Notice in BOTH cases it’s pronounced Lou-E-Vill
Now go to bed with no supper both of you.
🤣
PS
I also once had a collage of national news sources covering the big 1937 flood. All with the pronounced E in the middle.
Perhaps moving out of CCP controlled territory will re-introduce quality.
Have you two just assumed her gender? Shame, shame, shame.
I’ve lived here for the past 25 years. They sell tee shirts that show 4 different pronunciations. But I can assure you: the people who live here now predominantly say “Loo ah vull”. Like you have a mouthful of marbles. Lol
I definitely agree with that.
I’d imagine “New Orleans” started off as actual English and was bastardized over time to what it is now ; NAW-LUNS.
Going to the West End (not w/Julie but with my crew) which is where white boys went to try to buy booze.
Thanks for the link. It took me back. That line out of "A Tale Of Two Cities" came to mind.
I think we’ve heard from the expert!
Good and Bad times, eh?
Not sure I’ve drive to the West End looking for booze anymore.
Haven’t been back for years and from what I’ve heard, the West End moved all the way to downtown.
