So the authors idea of peace is US troops all around the world in perpetuity fighting those who “could” harm us.

The author specifically said otherwise. His thesis is not to send troops but to arm Iranians opposed to the Mullahs and the IRGC so that they can mop up after a hit on Fodow and the theocracy.

I'm all for that. We should be dropping them guns now. Israel has boots on the ground in Iran. They should know where to drop them. An America that arms the people against tyranny is to return us toward the founding principles of the American revolution.

The process you describe there is exactly what the U.S. and the UK did when they toppled the duly elected government of Iran in 1953.

That’s what ultimately led to the 1979 revolution in Iran.

I have a lot of confidence in President Trump that he will trust his first instincts in matters like this and promote a foreign policy that is based on the idea that the U.S. should just leave other countries the hell alone.
