Consider backing up the external, portable drive off and on.
I have external drives from 1TB to 8TB.
I used to teach basic tech. I often stated "computers are like cars; they are great, and then...... Not." An extra backup can always be deleted .

Imgur.com shows all your postings when you log into it. The one I uploaded yesterday is gone, and it was working. The one I just uploaded shows up.
That's a lazy thing to do, and the site you link from can block external links, which is what you are doing.
Imgur suddenly deleted every single one of my images. They can GFT. Totalitarians.
Welcome to the club (maybe). If I don’t keep up on daily browser maintenance, anti-virus etc. then I can’t see Imgur images on FR from Imgur, X, and Truth Social. This usually only happens AFTER I LOGON. If I check for images before logging on, I can often see them.
Some sequential steps to try based on my experiences:
1. Try logging out, closing your browser, staring your browser and checking that image WITHOUT logging on to FR.
2. If it’s not too much of a hassle for you, clear cookies and browsing history in your browser.
3. Close your browser.
4. Clear cookies from your computer (not the browser).
5. Run anti-virus software.
6. Reboot your machine.
8. Go to FR without logging on.
9. Locate the pic to see if you can view it now.
For awhile I could cut back on this routine if I checked images before logging on.
This worked for me but what a hassle. Then it stopped working so I had to clear my browser cache TWICE then my history TWICE (I’d find content ‘hanging on’ after the first clear). I had to open Edge, even though I don’t use it, and clear it’s cookies/history because they share. I set my browser to clear my history/cookies when I close my browser.
It got more tedious month after month. I added and learned to use NoScript. I may end up moving to post-quantum VPN so I don’t have to do so much. I’ve also ditched Mozilla for Brave because I read Mozilla got in bed with Google.
Basically, I seem to have been flagged and I used to spend a lot of time dodging or cleaning up those flags and now I’m looking at Linux and other tools. Sometimes I can’t view images (in Windows) on Imgur.com if my FreeRepublic tab is open in my browser.
But maybe that’s not your issue at all. I’d be interested to know any observations if you try my suggestions.
I am absoluted sure they deleted it because it is gone when I log into imgur. I uploaded a new copy. We’ll see what happens.
May I use it occasionally?
I can’t count how many they have deleted of the ones I was using (including from the VK ping pics and ZOT ping pics). I constantly have to move them around.
You may also want to close your FR tab before going to imgur to upload any images.
