One of the local cranks had a “No kings” sign out by their driveway, during the campaign. Used to have lots of drivel like that, until the election. Now, nothing. Probably afraid the fascists will come and load them in a boxcar.
P. S. I think the expression dates from post-J6, when they saw Trump as attempting to usurp the 2020 election.
