Israel Defense Forces has achieved full freedom of operation in the air space around Iran's capital Tehran, the IDF announced on Saturday.

-snip-

"We established aerial freedom of operation in western Iran, up to Tehran... Tehran is no longer immune—Iran's capital is now exposed to Israeli strikes," IDF spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said in a press conference.

Driving the news: IDF officials said in a briefing with reporters that over the last 36 hours since Israel launched the war against Iran the Israeli air force has eliminated the Iranian air defenses that could threaten Israeli fighter jets on their way to Tehran.

On Saturday morning, 70 Israeli fighter jets flew more than 900 miles, spent more than two hours in Tehran's airspace and attacked dozens of target in the Iranian capital, the IDF said.

"We struck over forty missile-related targets and advanced air defense systems across Iran, alongside additional command and launch infrastructure," Defrin said.

He added that dozens of Israeli "aerial platforms" are operating freely over Tehran. "This is a region where the Air Force is operating for the first time—the deepest we've ever operated within Iran," Defrin noted.

But. Given the quality of the Iranian Air and Army national forces, would not it be better for Israel to leave the incompetence in place in the military, destroy the arms and defenses, but remove the radical inmans running the place?

But, Marcus....

“The strikes led to a sharp increase in the price of oil, which is negative for us,” Zelenskyy said. “The Russians are getting stronger due to greater income from oil exports.”

There are no strategic thinkers anywhere anymore.

Now the reports are that Israels striking energy assets within Iran.

Cool, now we got China, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Armenia and a few others involved. Even Iraq, although that one doesn’t mean much.

This is getting real interesting.

Did you read the post? Israel’s claim is that they knocked out air defenses in WESTERN Iran as far as Teheran. Basically, that means that they can fly as far as Teheran without worrying about ground fire.

They had previously attacked the S-300 (”Russian Patriot”) guarding a key nuclear site, now they have a path to Teheran.

During Gulf War I, General Horner showed bar graphs of the number of radar pulses being emitted by Iraq, day by day, until the number was essentially zero.

Suppression of air defenses is the first priority in an air war, but the Israelis had other tasks. First they had a unique opportunity to behead the leadership and kill key technical personnel, before they were alerted to the danger. Second, they diverted resources to suppress ballistic missile barrages. The Iranians were in a use or lose situation with the missiles, the Israelis were trying to snuff them out before they launched.

Now, the Israelis can spend a few days attacking the surviving air defense assets, and mop up the entire nuclear infrastructure.

Good, these countries can buy oil from us, for a lot of moolah (not mullah).

That list is a good start. They need to kill everyone who worked on the Iranian nuclear project, down to the gate guards and cafeteria workers. Like Michael Corleone would say, “It’s not personal, it’s business.”

You people really are far to immature to converse with.

You WILL, find out the hard way. But, like the elders always said, the school of hard knox is the best learning institution there is.

I was in kindergarten (4 years old) during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I remember our assistant teacher walking us home, all of us children holding hands in a long snake down the sidewalk. My Dad was a scientist at one of our national labs and had to stay there for the duration. That lab was considered high on the target list.

I was just a tiny girl, but I remember how my teacher and her assistant were all pale but seemed to be putting on a front for us kiddies, the strange walk home, how my beloved Daddy couldn’t come home (and I had an awful feeling he was in danger), how my mother rushed to the phone every time it rang, the scary stuff on TV. Goodnight Chet, Goodnight David.

You know how early childhood memories are like those five-second videos on the early digital cameras? Those are my little “video clips” of memory from those days. I’m sure your memories are me more rounded out and include much more context.

I always admired and supported our Vietnam vets, but when I was living and working in Cambodia in the very early 1990s, I learned to appreciate and admire you even more. I’m just a civvie, but I salute you, sir.

It’s interesting how those of us who have been in the middle of real shooting wars (whether military like you or civvies like me) have a much, much higher bar for going to war than those who have not.

You know what’s really scary? The way so many today have lost all concern over nuclear war. Yes, it was probably overblown at times in the past, but the present utter disregard for its danger is truly disturbing.

One of my brothers was a bomb loader at an air base in FL during that. He loaded those “special” bombs.
Only loaded them. Never took them off. Someone else did that.

What did we prevent there? Removal of Castro? Well, they are still in power.
Vietnam? Became communist anyway. Laos? Managed to kill off tens of thousands of people.

BTW, brother got the watch a bomber cartwheel down the runway after it crash landed with one of those “special” bombs on board.

These kids on here think this is some video game. They’re fond of war and are gonna find out the hard way it aint all fun and games like they think.
And have had 500 pounders, and bigger, dropped very near and around us while in Laos.
It aint funny and it aint nice.

If so, time for a few AC-130s to take out missiles.
