Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), in a contentious exchange during a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing Thursday, slammed New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) over recent crimes in the state committed by migrants living in the country illegally.
Stefanik invoked an executive order immigration signed by Hochul, along with a number of recent crimes committed by those who were in the country without authorization, including the burning of a woman on the New York City subway last year.
“This is Kathy Hochul’s New York. It’s one of the many reasons why you’re hemorrhaging support from hardworking New York families,” Stefanik said. “They’re horrific crimes that are committed on your watch. You signed this executive order on your first day in office. You signed it again and again this January.”
“We deserved a governor who stands up for New Yorkers, who doesn’t put illegals first but actually puts New Yorkers first,” she continued.
The exchange took place at the Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary states Thursday, featuring Hochul, along with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D).
Stefanik several times spoke over Hochul during the heated back-and-forth as the New York governor struggled to recall specifics of the cases but repeatedly told Stefanik she condemns the “horrific” crimes Stefanik cited.

Wow.
That’s not a fair fight, Elise is quite smart and able, Hochul is as dumb as a rock and takes orders from radical leftists who prop her up as Governor.
The hill is so biased I can’t even read it.
Too bad Elise didn’t just throw a glass of water at Jochal so we could all watch her melt!
The sHill? If you can’t find more reputable sources, you might as well not post anything.
Elise is also likable, while Hochul is grotesque.
It would have been funny if hochul told stefonic that she’s in the congress and has done nothing on immigration so stuff if.
Elise is definitely doing things that indicate she might run against Hochul. I just wish I had more confidence that the various NYS GOP committee’s could help her, sadly they are poorly run patronage farms ill equipped to run strategic aggressive elections.
That’s not just the GOP in NY, unfortunately...
Nothing as in: closing the borders and deporting the illegals as fast as they can.
I watched the entire thing on Cspan, there’s more to come after they do some house votes. The democrats as usual made complete asses and fools of themselves and the Republicans got some real zingers in on them.
Just read a Headline “ Hochul schools Jordan on Immigration”.
<>Most scientific research on the connection between immigration and crime has found immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than their U.S.-born peers.<>
Even one crime is too many when you’re in a country illegally. To argue that they’re more law abiding than citizens is a ridiculous position to take. Everyday a person is illegally in this country they’re already committing a crime.
Even a simpleton governor should ask one simple question. Do American citizens want to live in my state? If not, why are they leaving?
Hochul participated in the murder of over 19,000 people during the covid scam by denying healthcare that would have saved those people.
She could care less about the victims of the illegals.
Not just migrant crime, BTW. From Upstate NY, perp shoots three people...
Note that the enemedia outlet buried the lede.
The fact that the perp was out on parole was buried down in the last paragraph.
Now back to the illegals. From another part of Upstate. Note the misleading headline and the weasel wordage used in the story about the illegals rounded up...

Elmira isn’t “upstate”. It’s Southern Tier.
I guess people consider everything that isn’t NYC as upstate.
