Earth's atmosphere hasn't had this much CO2 in millions of years

New data shows that CO2 levels have broken through 430 parts per million, an indication that human-caused global warming will continue to warp the environment.

Earth’s atmosphere now has more carbon dioxide in it than it has in millions — and possibly tens of millions — of years, according to data released Thursday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and scientists at the University of California San Diego.

For the first time, global average concentrations of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas emitted as a byproduct of burning fossil fuels, exceeded 430 parts per million (ppm) in May. The new readings were a record high and represented an increase of more than 3 ppm over last year.

The measurements indicate that countries are not doing enough to limit greenhouse gas emissions and reverse the steady buildup of C02, which climate scientists point to as the main culprit for global warming.

Too much rain and sub-normal temps the last few weeks for me.

Let’s get on with the warming.

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

They measure carbon dioxide levels next to a volcano? Genius!

“considering the real danger is snowball earth because we’re in the middle of a record low cooling period — more CO2 can’t be a bad thing.”

Yep, exactly... :)

Funny, each and every record of CO2 levels I’ve seenfor the past few millions of years shows the present level close to the lowest it’s ever been - with only slightly lower levels resulting in plant deaths.

Something is amiss here, and given it’s our totally loathed, distrusted, and spit upon media, populated by mere journalists, take their “news” with a grain of salt.

We need all the CO2 we can get. This is why Mars is so cold. With an atmosphere that is 95% carbon dioxide, the density (1% of Earth’s atmosphere) of that CO2 is not enough to trap the heat from the sun.

CO2 was much higher during Jurassic.

https://www.livescience.com/44330-jurassic-dinosaur-carbon-dioxide.html

It had been going down. Plant life struggles at low CO2 levels, and dies at 150 ppm

Exactly correct. The CO2 level on the Earth had become dangerously low before the Petroleum age. Western civilization since 1800, which is to say, Christian Capitalism, has started to return the necessary levels of CO2 to save life on the planet.

Interesting.

You should contact ABC, NBC, SeeBS, etc. with that information. And Fox, where you might get some action.

Fifty years ago it was THE COMING ICE AGE that was going to “get” Us! There were even plans to mine coal, grind it to dust and spread it on the Ice Fields to increase earth temperature to save us from THE COMING ICE AGE!

AND WE DID IT! Stopped the COMING ICE AGE in it’s tracks!

It was about 2000 parts per million 250 million years ago?
