I'm skeptical. I couldn't help but notice that the one place where he sounded agitated, misspoke and had to repeat a few words that he flubbed was in the Obama critique, where quite obviously he had several reasons to feel anxious.

We have had some really bad people while we had some great ones like Washington.

I do also feel that piling on to Hoover was unfortunate. He was blamed by the new and growing power of radio media at that time. it's comparable to the way social media companies piled onto Trump since 2015 and haven't been checked yet, except partially by X.
