They forbade the Sabbath of the Old Law because it was not binding on Christians. Any Christians that were holding fast to it were doing so in error.
They were in Romes error not Gods. They were following the Word of God and not "he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws".
