Narcissism, greed, self aggrandizement and at their core a desperate emptiness and lack of meaning. Leftists seek to fill this void with false religions like Gaia Worship, or Global Socialism or anti racism/anti colonialism (both of which in practice just mean a blinding hostility to all things Western).
They’re desperate for a grand cause so they can tell themselves they’re righteous. Of course, they are NEVER required to live with the consequences of their own actions. They can for instance, champion DEI yet pull strings to get their (White) kids into the Ivy League. They can preach about Gaia Worship yet fly around in private jets and have ocean front mansions. They can preach the joys of socialism while keeping or building obscene wealth for themselves.

It is self evident what the Left wants to do with power because they are already doing it.
They desire to bring about human suffering and death.
Every time Leftist are in power they start wars. Once a war begins they do most every time a war is begun they work to ensure that the war continues.
Leftist promote and protect abortion. Abortion is the murder of babies. What could be more immoral or cause more suffering.
Leftist work to ensure the continued poverty of people in countries where it thrives by placing impediments to those countries obtaining fossil fuel electric generation.
The Left is the greatest promoter of human suffering because it what they desire.
Simple. Because they don't have a marketable product. If you can't attract voters with a great plan, you have to use force, coercion, and election interference.
That view vindicates their u\quest and use of absolute power, even to the ultimate point of ignoring and even celebrating the suffering they cause buy divesting the people of freedom.
The left are Utopian Fascist of the highest order. And when they lose in their battle to impose their view, they have such cognitive dissonance that they want to do violence and murder.
