Dog collars? That’s nothing. I see them rolling out carts filled with huge Samsung tvs. The cops are there All. The. Time. A lot of arrests. And this is a pretty upscale area.

The idiot employee is a Walmart issue but idiots are employed everywhere. You fire them.

If the customers had a receipt, all they had to do was show the receipt and stop attention whoring by filming the whole thing.

BS: it’s not a walmart “rule” ... there’s no signs posted to that effect ... and it’s ridiculous to claim “everybody knows it” ... Walmart has no legal right to demand to see a receipt, and if they attempt to detain someone who doesn’t display a receipt for something they’ve legally purchased, then walmart can be sued AND criminally prosecuted for kidnap ...”

I seriously doubt this is true. So if I go to a Yankees game they can’t make me prove I have a ticket??? LOL

I’ve been “flagged” by some of my motions at the checkout - they clear it in seconds and I continue with my scanning/paying - if there weren’t so many thieves and such laxness, we wouldn’t have these issues.

I’d rather a minor inconvenience than have higher prices...

Walmart doesn’t accuse anyone falsely - at least in my neck of the woods.

“The receipt check only occurs at the Walmarts around here that are in the sketchier areas. The closest Walmart does not. It is also clean and nice. Ten minutes away is the Walmart with armed guards. The started that after somebody got shot.”

Was at Walmart yesterday in North Myrtle Beach. Did self-checkout and at the door was a man with an Asset Management vest on and wearing a Vietnam Vets hat. I approached, thanked him for his service, held out my receipt for him to inspect. He looked at me and told me it’s okay and to have a nice rest of my day.

With today’s technology you should empty the contents of your cart on a conveyor belt thru a tunnel system that identifies the bar code (perhaps have it printed in multiple locations on the packaging) snaps a photo, then provides a bill and drops the items into a cart and emails you a receipt and allows you to enter it into a spreadsheet or other software program to track costs.

I wasn’t complaining about. It just scares me that AI is taking more and more control of our lives. At some point the human element is going to be removed and AI will be judge, jury and executioner.

I refuse to use self checkout. I hate them. I do not work for the company and I am not getting a discount.

To put it diplomatically, my wife won’t shop at the one I go to. She drives a bit further to another WM Supercenter.

In some ways, I fear what AI can be used for - but in high-theft areas, it’s no different than the folks monitoring all the cameras in a casino.....it’s when it moves out of private enterprise and into the public venue that pisses me off....and we’ve been there for years w/o AI.

Bad enough when businesses need it because of the venality of people - but when governments decide to use it, it isn’t “for the public good”....

Wal-Mart can’t require a receipt for you to leave. Costco can, because people sign a membership agreement.
