An illegal migrant who has lived in the United States for more than 20 years is facing deportation after making a wrong turn into a California military facility.
Ana Camero, 64, took a different route home from her dishwasher job at a La Jolla restaurant on April 7.
After stopping at a gas station, she mistakenly drove onto the Marine Corps Depot in San Diego where she was asked for proper identification, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Unable to provide ID, military officials called Border Patrol and the Mexican native was detained.
'If the individual cannot or does not provide the required identification, the appropriate federal authorities — including U.S. Customs and Border Protection — are notified,' a spokesperson for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot told the Los Angeles Times.
'This protocol applies regardless of whether the individual claims the entry was accidental. As a federal installation, we are mandated to uphold all applicable federal statutes and laws.'
Border Patrol told the outlet that agents may provide assistance to military installations when requested.
'During the course of their assistance and duties, Border Patrol agents may take custody of any individual found present in the United States in violation of applicable federal law and process them accordingly,' the agency said.

That would seem to point to two possibilities:

“Those stories are just designed for those rich, emotional, virtue signaling women readers.
All emotions, no brains!”
I’m a woman reader, dawg I posted it. I’m laughing my ass off at how stupid she is.
Excellent points. She was breaking laws one way or the other. Sorry, Ana. Let this be a lesson to your fellow law breakers. We have an entire bloated bureaucracy devoted helping people obtain citizenship and/or work permits. I suggest you take advantage of those rules next time.
When I got out of the Navy , I drove to California because I wanted to visit Death Valley. I made a wrong turn and ended up heading to the Navy China Lake base. Because I still had my Navy sticker on my car they simply waved me in. Rather than explore that base I quickly turned around and left
I think I was probably just where they taxi to get to the runway but STILL!
Security Police intercepted me and thankfully had enough of a sense of humor to direct me to the building I was supposed to be in.
Oddly enough, I didn't get the sale.
But then, I always did suck as a salesman.
Good, now go after that restaurant and ask them to explain why they have illegals working for them.
Exactly.
“My take was that any military base or post would let a civilian turn around if they made a wrong turn by mistake.”
They will but, they will want to see ID as they have to make a report on it.
I have a friend who has been here for decades after marrying a US military guy ...but she stays a legal resident by annually flying back to her birth country and refiling for the right paperwork. I am not sure why the Mexicans don’t do that, just apply for legal residency as required and viola, you are documented. Maybe they just do it because they’ve never have to fear actual enforcement of immigration rules like European immigrants do. The government always looked the other way for crop pickers then never got out of the habit when the started coming to harvest freebies and drop anchor babies instead.
I tried to talk her into going for the full citizenship test but she has major test anxiety and evidently it isn’t cheap. She’s in her 70s now and has always worked and paid into the system. Raised kids who served in the military.
Unable to provide ID means she was also driving without a license and wouldn’t have insurance. Which means if she hit somebody and they ended up in the hospital...
No driver’s license, no insurance... no, they shouldn’t let you just go.
True. And the military is acting like it should too. Under Slow Joe I expect they would have let her go.
Have they gone after the place that hired her yet?
“Process (all) of them accordingly.”
Obviously, you are not snobbish, better than thou, virtue signaling woman.
Don’t try that on a Marine Base where Marines man the gates.
Maybe a South African we just brought to the country will take the dishwasher job.
“...dishwashers make 20 dollars an hour plus tips...”
Who tips them?
I did f&b work for over a dozen years and never heard of tipping the dishwasher. Bartender, busboy, hostess, yes, but not the dishwasher.
Is this something new?
