Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law ratifying the agreement on mineral resources between the United States and Ukraine, APA reports, citing Unian.

It should be noted that on May 1, Washington and Kyiv signed an agreement granting the US access to Ukraine’s mineral reserves. The Ukrainian Parliament later ratified the deal.

If I understand this correctly, this agreement has aluminum, graphite, oil, and natural gas.

While I think this is a great deal for both parties, I’m also concerned that whatever infrastructure is built to mine these minerals (which is generally considerable) is within spitting distance of Russia and will present a perpetually tempting target for Putin or whomever succeeds him. It’s like a permanent piece of bait laid out within striking distance.

Excellent! Now we don't need Zelensky or his Nazi government anymore.

The minerals in Ukraine belong to America, the only thing we need Ukrainians for is to work the mines and teach Piano in Europe.

What minerals do the US not have that it needs from the Ukraine?

Of the 4 I mentioned in my earlier post (graphite, aluminum, oil, and natural gas), I believe the U.S. has few graphite deposits in the United States, with aluminum (bauxite) being somewhat low here as well. I don't know if other "minerals" were added to the deal.

The Banderites will now spend the rest of their lives toiling in the mines of rump Ukraine to pay off their debt to their Western masters.

It's meaningless until the war ends.

Tell your Zelensky to end the war, Marcus, so US taxpayers can get their money from the failed war the Biden regime is reasonable for.

This is an introduction.

In the future, we will have a BIG deal with Russia on the grounds now occupied. We do not need a deal with Ukraine. What they have is minimal.

Tell your Putin to show up in Istanbul on Thursday.

That's a damning indictment of Russian leaders in particular, Russians in general, and Russia as a country.

I notice that nobody worries about America invading Canada or Mexico for their petroleum and other mineral resources ... or for their arable land. Funny how it works that way.

It's time for Russia to grow up and fix its own problems instead of invading its neighbors.

So far, in less than a week we’ve had two major trade deals, a couple of (tentative) cease fire deals engineered by the Trump admin., the negotiated release of a Hamas hostage, an EO ordering a drastic cut in prescription drug prices and a huge stock market rally.

I may be forgetting something, but I won’t bother checking to see if any of it is being reported on today’s synchronized network newscasts.

I seem to remember that when Trump first mentioned this, all of the “experts” (and I think Zelensky as well) said it would never happen.

It would be hilarious if President Trump and Zelensky showed up in Istanbul on Thursday while war pig Putin continued his genocidal war of choice from his Kremlin bunker.

It is my understanding that there were 3 protocols to the “deal” and only one was made (splashed) public.

We do not know the technical details, particularly if some payment should be due to the US if no minerals are found.

“I notice that nobody worries about America invading Canada or Mexico for their petroleum and other mineral resources ... or for their arable land. Funny how it works that way.”

You’re comparing two possible actions, the odds of which occurring do not even rise to zero, while Russia invading Ukraine and Crimea are established certainties. Meanwhile, Russia, as Peter Ziehan has stated, is not much more than a mafia-controlled gas station. If Russia getting her act together is timely, who blew up their natty gas pipelines under the Black Sea?

The Thursday meeting in Istanbul was Putin’s idea in the first place.

If Russia getting her act together is timely,

It is. As you correctly observe, Russia has a fully formed habit of invading its neighbors to steal resources from them. The Russian dictator has publicly proclaimed a desire to re-establish the Russian Empire ... proving that Russia really needs to get its act together. Until it does, any negative consequences to Russia of Russia's aggression are entirely Russia's fault. If Russia doesn't like, for example, have its pipelines bombed then Russia can quit its habit of aggression and tend to its own internal problems.

Nobody is concerned about America invading her neighbors.

Everybody is concerned about Russia invading her neighbors.

Some people support Russia invading her neigbors ... some of those people infest Free Republic. Are you one of them?
