“I notice that nobody worries about America invading Canada or Mexico for their petroleum and other mineral resources ... or for their arable land. Funny how it works that way.”
You’re comparing two possible actions, the odds of which occurring do not even rise to zero, while Russia invading Ukraine and Crimea are established certainties. Meanwhile, Russia, as Peter Ziehan has stated, is not much more than a mafia-controlled gas station. If Russia getting her act together is timely, who blew up their natty gas pipelines under the Black Sea?
It is. As you correctly observe, Russia has a fully formed habit of invading its neighbors to steal resources from them. The Russian dictator has publicly proclaimed a desire to re-establish the Russian Empire ... proving that Russia really needs to get its act together. Until it does, any negative consequences to Russia of Russia's aggression are entirely Russia's fault. If Russia doesn't like, for example, have its pipelines bombed then Russia can quit its habit of aggression and tend to its own internal problems.
Nobody is concerned about America invading her neighbors.
Everybody is concerned about Russia invading her neighbors.
Some people support Russia invading her neigbors ... some of those people infest Free Republic. Are you one of them?
