I’m in Athens TN close to Greenback and it made my house jump up and down. The dogs all ran under the bed. That wasn’t huge but it was big for us.

My sister lives in Braselton GA and she called and said, “did you feel that”? I’m in Athens TN.

This is an unusual location. Typically earthquakes are around the New Madrid fault where Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri meet.

Yep, so far. Dogs are boogered some. Even at only 4.1, the house jumped and it felt like it was sliding off its foundation. LOL Greenback is only 34 miles from me.

The Appalachians are waking up.
To: Grey182
Would be hardly noticeable in California.

Typically earthquakes are around the New Madrid fault where Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri meet.So it's not the Madrid? Could this quake activate that one? Are they close?

They’re about 350 or 400 miles apart. Tennessee is a very wide state.

“Moved here from CA and I’m used to earthquakes but not the strange rattle/noise this morning!!!”
I’ve lived in both CA and AK, so know earthquakes well. This was different as you noted. I called it a “jiggle”.

I’m a few miles south of Braselton and we felt it here. Our dogs also felt it. :)

“Would this have been about 09:04 EDT?”
That’s when my brother felt it down in Spring City TN. I thought it was more like 8:40.

Our neighbor thought it was a sonic boom. I didn’t hear a boom.

Inirially, the USGS reported it as a 3.5 magnitude, then upgraded it to a 4.1.
I noticed two peaks with the second peak being slight stronger, then it trailed off.
