I would swap out the Who for the Moody Blues. But otherwise, YES!
The Sex Pistols and The Clash with honorable mentions.
I discovered Genesis with The lamb, but since, my favorite is Selling england by the pound.
Honestly, I like them all with one exception: Calling all stations. I have that one on CD and I can see why they called it quits on new stuff.
The other heavy hitter of the British Invasion was the Rolling Stones. The Beatles and Stones were in a league of their own. They aren’t my favorite British bands but they were certainly the most influential.
Good interview here with Lemmy, on his views on the Beatles and The Stones. Basically said, that The Beatles were the tough guys and the Stones were the “sissies”....

When my friends were into Cream. I was into Herb Alpert and the TJB. Never been a fan of Cream. Too much like a jam band (e.g. the Dead). I wouldn’t know a Def Leppard song if I heard one.
I can’t speak to most of those bands, but I had a lot of exposure to Duran Duran because I sold hi-fi back in the 70’s and early 80’s. We had MTV going most of the time in our store so I’m very familiar with their stuff. I could never get into it, though. I didn’t dislike it. I was just neutral on it.
I’m a firm believer in this: Art is subjective. That’s why I don’t usually slam someone elses tastes in any kind of art. It all speaks to each of us based on the life we’ve lived.
Def Leppard?! Are they high? They’re not even one of the 5 best NWOBM bands. Where are all the Brummies? Sabbath, Priest, ELO, Moody Blues. Although I do respect them putting Zep and the Stones about The Beatles.
I’m convinced that when these “lists” are assembled, there’s always one that’s obviously an honorable mention or also-ran. That’s just to get the conversation on who or what should replace that entry, keeping the article alive with hits and comments.
I love the Dead and the Allmans. Best Jam bands. Cream sounding like a jam band could be taken as a compliment by them if 2 were still alive. Lol.
Oh sure. There’s always backlash bait. But of course that’s part of the fun.
Queen should be #5 — Queen far outshines Def Leppard.
Def Leppard is the English Bon Jovi.
#1. Electra Light Orchestra
“Orchestra”
Band-Orchestra
Is this what they call brainbox pollution!
And to think Dave Brock will be 84 in a couple of months. They’re still cranking it out!
and I’m still loving it!
Kinks never get the due owed
That’s for sure.
At least the first two Def Leppard albums were good.
That’s fair.
