Hayden's firing comes as President Trump has been purging federal officials deemed to have gone against his agenda
Democratic leaders erupted late Thursday after it was reported that President Trump had abruptly fired Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden.
Hayden was notified of her firing in an email late Thursday from the White House's Presidential Personnel Office, according to an email seen by The Associated Press.
"Carla," the email reportedly began. "On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service."
Nominated by former President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate in 2016, Hayden, whose term was set to expire next year, was the first woman and the first African American in the role. Advocates praised her tenure for helping to modernize the Library and make it more accessible with initiatives in rural communities and online.

My experience with libraries in my career was the same, that they became woke and politically biased left. I found Librarians were almost universally democrats and usually far left ones from my somewhat limited experience (especially after 2000 or so).
Matter of fact thanks to them I own a fairly extensive library. Mostly military history but some classics as well like Defoe’s history, the Journal of The Plague Year (1722) or Russian Short Stories (1919) and many others. Over time they eliminated old books and classics (often in perfect shape) and replaced them with “modern” readings.
They would sit these great pieces of literature out on the discard racks and trash them in a few days, which is where I would pick them up. Often I noticed these liberal librarians would fill the slots with LGBTQ friendly themes and a bunch of fluff like the very popular Hunger Games, Or woke nonsense like “Heather Has Two Mommies” .

Well, that explains why the dems are upset. They do love their “firsts”.
Can’t say I have direct knowledge of this, except when I was in a school board I did hear a rant by a librarian one time that the organizational system used in libraries was “racist” and some new fangled method that hid Western and Judeo-Christian thought was far superior.
I voted against her, but lost.

As the man who put this woman in her role as “Librarian Of Congress” says, “elections have consequences”.
Perhaps she can recall that considering her role.
I saw her on CSPAN during COVID and she made it obvious that she was a DEI hire.

My daughter is Christian and conservative. She is an expert of children’s literature and has worked in a library and also managed the children’s book department at a large bookstore.
Her plan was to become a librarian. It stupidly requires a masters degree. Most of the course work is indoctrination. The income doesn’t justify the cost of the degree so she gave up that idea. It’s too bad. We need strong people like her to stem the tide of insanity but they’ve made it nearly impossible.
My wife was a librarian in a deep blue state for 20 years. I attended several events with her and her colleagues and asked how she could stand being around that nonsense (LGTBQ+, radical left, avowed socialists, etc.). She said she loved books and the liked many of the customers of the library system. God bless her, I likely would have been fired.

The libraries in my area have also eliminated many older books and added newer trash.Was especially sad to find 1898 Sherlock Holmes gone.
Their policy is books not checked out within some period of time are removed to clear shelf space.

The other part is that the love of reading is not promoted anymore, and not valued.
The leftist politics comes from the result of publicly-funded assets where those hired treat it like a sinacure.
I was a librarian for 38 years. After I retired, I understand that the next one discarded many or most of the classics. Who knows what is there now! I don’t want to see it.
My wife is a librarian, (has a masters degree, as a previous poster mentioned), and conservative!
I’m proud she has kept all kinds of filth from small kids. It’s doable but difficult.
