Many Americans are choosing to opt out of REAL ID’s, long DMV waits - and instead do this (passport)

WASHINGTON – As many Americans across the nation are rushing to obtain their REAL ID license, some are choosing to opt out by either using their valid passport as their preferred form of ID for travel or waiting until their current driver’s license expires and then renewing it.

The REAL ID requirement takes effect on May 7, when Americans must have a new form of identification in order to fly domestically.

The costs of obtaining the identification vary from state to state. Costs also vary according to whether travelers are obtaining a first-time REAL ID or looking to renew their existing license.

Other forms of identification that will be accepted in lieu of a REAL ID include a valid U.S. passport or passport card, DHS trusted traveler cards such as Global Entry, Department of Defense IDs, permanent resident cards, and border crossing cards.

With the deadline looming, Fox News Digital spoke this week with travelers and asked those who do not have or do not plan to get a REAL ID any time soon why they made that decision.

At the Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Washington, D.C., Lisa from Oregon said that it was a “financial decision” at this time.

Lisa (no last name shared) said she had not yet gotten a REAL ID to date “because it was an extra cost, and I knew that I would rather put that money toward the passport.”

She said that at a later date, she may decide to get a REAL ID.

“When I’m traveling later, I’ll have to bring my passport, and I may not want to do that for stateside travel,” she said.

Vets need to bring the discharge certificate. They’ll copy it and put a star on the license.

The Blue state that we were married in has been dragging its feet on sending my wife an official government document of our marriage. We have the church document. When I mean dragging its feet, I mean 8 months!!! I’m going to have to try and go to the Town clerk of the Town we were married in to try and secure a copy directly.

A lot of Republican congressmen and senators are about to get an earful from their female constituents, whether yu feel like you have little sympathy for them or not. I suspect there will be many on the Democrat side as well, especially the Democrat side! My wife used the Church document 36 years ago and we had to prove to Social Security that she had been married and it was good enough then. We have a solid unbroken record as being tax payers as Mr and Mrs Mathis for 36 years.

My wife has a solid unbroken record voting conservative but she will refuse to vote if the government doesn’t bend on that issue and she misses her flight to a family wedding later this year. For other women in this same situation it will mean lost jobs or even medical treatments. I don’t think you realize the crap storm this has caused for a lot of married women. Want to to know how many women may have only been married in Church and not at a JP or have registered for a license?...more than any politician has realized. I know one congressman realizes it and he has tried to sound an alarm... a republican from Kansas!

When God is working at the TSA you will be fine. Until then, your confirmation name is not a legal name.

Oh, absolutely. None of this is hard. Black people, and anyone else, will get what they need in order to live the life that they want. They will fly, no problem.

BUT as a propaganda technique, the Democrats will remind white liberal women that black people will be totally, utterly unable to vote because they just can’t get ID. It will be outrageous, and unfair, and racist. People will believe this.

Even for Social Security one must do this. Man, woman, tranny, etc. Why is providing proof of name change now an issue other than people blowing up Facebook with wrong info because Trump is seemingly involved? This is like black folks aren’t capable of getting an ID:

From the Social Security website:

If you need to change your name on your Social Security card, you must show us proof of your legal name change. Documents Social Security may accept to prove a legal name change include:

Marriage document;
Divorce decree;
Certificate of Naturalization showing the new name; or
Court order approving the name change.

Passed by Congress in 2005, (rollout moving at the speed of gubmint) the REAL ID Act enacted the 9/11 Commission’s.... The Act established minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses ...

Thanks to 0bama and his fellow minions, low standards to get a drivers license and automatic addition to voters rolls is a main driver of vote fraud.

Visit your state’s driver’s licensing agency website to find out exactly what documentation is required to obtain a REAL ID. At a minimum, you must provide documentation showing: 1) Full Legal Name; 2) Date of Birth; 3) Social Security Number; 4) Two Proofs of Address of Principal Residence; and 5) Lawful Status.

Date of Birth + Lawful Staus.
The cuts out 0bama and the rest of the illegals

You just need to apply for an amended birth certificate with documentation showing you use your confirmation name. If anyone is to blame for your issues, it is your parents as they filled out your birth certificate using a different name from what they put on your confirmation record.

Some folks got the jab because they wanted to fly to some destination.
If folks want to hand over extra cash to fly somewhere, rather than take a car/bus/train/boat, they can buy a RealID and skip the meal+drinks at the airport

Many married women don’t have immediate access to the official copy of the government issued marriage license and Real ID doesn’t want to accept church issued documents, even if the clergy were officially licensed as being able to perform the ceremony. They want to see a copy of the Government issue license that most folks sign in addition to any church documents. Social Security allowed the use of church documents to prove name change for women due to marriage but that is now considered not good enough for for Real ID purposes. A church marriage certificate signed by a priest licensed by the state isn’t good enough anymore.

This is throwing many women into a tizzy, especally those who have reason to fly or use public transport frequently.
This includes many conservative or republican women. I imagine Democrat married women will be in a similar situation and according to one Kansas republican congressman, the politicians are getting an earful. The states are balky at getting requested documentation thru the mails and delivery systems. Many people don’t live in the states they were married in. My wife has been waiting 8 months to get a copy of such documentation from NY State and they keep telling her..”sent for processing”!

This will become a head-ache for the politicians if they won’t modify how they are handling married women who simply are trying to prove they had a name change thru marriage!

Social Security accepts Church Certificates of marriage...Real ID doesn’t!!

Some independents are turning to Republicans, but the Democrats are not losing their base. The Democrat base remains as committed, mindless, and insane as ever. Despite the obvious fact that Harris is an incompetent idiot 75 million people voted for her. Some of the most extreme examples of stupidity and criminality get reelected to Congress by large margins AOC and Iilan Omar come to mind. I can understand government workers and academics voting Democrat- they get a bigger share of the taxpayers’ plundered wealth when Democrats are in power. But every day ordinary working Americans voting to enslave themselves leaves me puzzled.

Social Security accepts Church Documents of marriage if performed by recognized and Licensed clergy. It doesn’t have to be a an offical county, town or state document. Real ID wants the government only documents. My wife used our church certificate 36 years ago to prove her name change for SS to get her new card. Real ID won’t accept that. I’m not sure we ever had a copy of the Town clerk’s witnessed state document though we did sign one for government’s sake! /sarc.

When I got mine right at the beginning (2018 if I remember) I brought in my old DL, passport, SS card and a couple of bills to prove my address. The state BMV employee had to scan them. It was one item more than the ID requirements for a new non-realID card. I could have used my birth certificate, but I had my passport out already.

I don't know what happens now with electronic payroll and electronic billing. If I weren't such a Luddite who ignores all the e-bill offers until they charge me for paper bills, I could easily have no printed paper bills at all. And anything with the SS number usually X's out the first 5 digits.

The issue is simply this: REAL ID requires documentation that illegals cannot provide.

I filled out the form and took it to the local post office. The USPS guy took a passport photo, processed payment and put everything in an envelope. Mine went to Irving Texas. Got an email Dept of State that they got the app, photo and payment, and I can expect the passport in 4-6 weeks. Maybe sooner.

The only time I got same day service was 10 years ago when I went to the federal building in downtown Chicago and waited in line for 1/2 hour.

I got my Real ID last fall and was not asked for my marriage certificate. I had my certified birth certificate, my social security card in my married name and the water bill as proof of address.

Nobody gave me any flak about proof of marriage. Admittedly, I provided SS with my marriage certificate 30 some years ago when I changed to my married name and then used the new SS card to change my drivers license.

People need to stop griping about being expected to have their documents in order.

Ok sheep. Stand in line and be a “good “citizen” for us.

If blue states dragged their feet about the real ID they were heroes. Republicans are plenty at fault for our ridiculous need to ID everyone about everything. Bushie.
