How did he do compared to Secretariat?
I got the winner and third place finisher right. But didn’t bet enough money.
Now millions of dollars will be offered to Journalism and Baeza’s owners not to run in the Preakness.
2.51 seconds slower than Secretariat’s time.
Sovereignty defeats Journalism.
Would have lost to Secretariat by a couple seconds. Not bad on an off track. Sovereignty looked strong at the end and had more in him.
Thanks for the info!!!
By whom?
Not true. Several horses have won from the 20+ spot, even recently. Rich Strike, Country Home, and Big Brown.
It is #17 that has never won.
No horse, ever, will touch Secretariats record running on a muddy track.
Based purely on words, I picked Coal Battle for the win, and Journalism to lose, lose, lose, lose, lose.
This race went EXACTLY the way I thought it would.
I had a nice win ticket, the exacta, and the Trifecta.
I almost moved Sovereignty out of 1st in my Tri-ticker group, but... Last night, I heard Kenny McPeek talking on a YouTube broadcast about has fantastic he’d looked all week at Churchill. BIG THANKS to Kenny for keeping me solid.
First Tri I’ve hit at the Derby in 8 years. $1.50 ticket paid $345. Of cource, I wagered $80 on my trifecta wheel. I could have saved a lot of money had I just bet the horses I liked the most. Fun day!
Yes... that’s true. Weird, but true.
Make America Great Again Sovereignty won, Journalists came in second. How funny is that?
IF you look closely at any reruns-—the hooves of the horses are about 1/2 way deep into the slop, with pretty solid ground under that.
NOT BAD, CONSIDERING TRACK FOOTING
CONGRATS-—ENJOY
Journalism loses again
It was a fun day...
I won on the 3rd race, with Baffert’s first horse of the day... not much, but not a loss.
Then won NOTHING all day until the 10th race, when I made a large bet on the 5/2 favorite. That got me back to even.
Then the Derby was nothing but fun.
We weren’t at the track this year. At a neighborhood party. So, we were dry... well fed, and inebriated. I brought a bottle of “Chicken Cock” bourbon for all to share. Seriously. We were making MANY jokes about that, all day.
