I recall reading that Picasso would do a friend in financial need a favor by picking up a dinner napkin and sketching a quick piece of art and signing it. Such works could easily be sold for substantial amounts of money. Picasso's doodles were currency.

As I read about the 12.3 million people over the age of 120 yrs now purged from Social Security records (marked deceased), I wonder if those records were used like currency for rewarding deep staters. "Here ya go, Ice Pick. A social security number as a reward for your latest hit on a white hat. Good work!" Or perhaps given, along with its benefits, to the elderly mother of a records clerk in D.C. in exchange for 'disappearing' documents.

Interesting thot you got right thar? Having worked on all the Permits except the Thresher, which was gone before my time, And all the Sturgeons based in the Pacific, part of my job was to imagine that exact thing. Those boats could keep every body else on the planet honest in the ocean. Then the LA’s gradually took their places with the same effect.

Interesting side note but I remember the Flasher coming in with a dent in the front of its sail. Following too close. Nobody knew how that happened?

And the Greenville did indeed sink the last Japanese boat but it was off Honolulu, not Saipan. A couple years after the incident, which was an emergency blow that came up under the research boat and broke it, they lifted the boat, moved it closer to shore, got the bodies off, then took it back to deep water and let it sink.

The Greenville was doing a highbrow show and tell and it’s always baffled me how they got permission to submerge off Honolulu. That’s not a sub lane. But they had a Flag on board who’s lucky he didn’t get his asssunk? There’s always a Destroyer type patrolling those waters looking for nosy cheaters.
