Kelly’s Heroes ?
Why did the hikers report their find?
They could have said to the museum “hey, would you like to buy some old coins to display?”
SHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Under Czech law, the two hikers may be entitled to a reward of up to 10 percent of the collection’s value.
To be an incentive to turn in found treasure, it should be 50% of market value.
Dibs!
At present price of gold, 3.7KG of coins (assuming they are 24K) would be more like $430,000 - and that’s just the melt value, not counting numismatic / collector premiums for rare coins.
Ooh! The “may” be entitled to a “reward” up to ten per cent!
They are fools for reporting their find.
PING!.................
Well trained citizens, reporting their finding.
Wonder how big a tax hit they’ll take on their “10%” reward...
Fun little city. I did some projects there for Orbital

Note to self. If I even find a jar filled with gold coins...SHUT UP!!! At that area... I’m guessing it was a stash for resistance fighters.

Shovel, hide it and shut up. Sell it off a little at a time. Nice income for years.
Why would you EVER let anybody know? Split it 50/50 and sell it one piece at a time over a few years outside the country. Keep the money in foreign bank accounts in a dummy corporation’s account.
This “lost gold treasure” weighed about 11 pounds. It seems like the story should read something more along the lines of “Cousin Mario’s name has finally been cleared. Great Aunt Ljuba’s jewelry box full of her collection of little gold coins was finally found right where she hid it 90 years ago, along with some other stuff she usually kept in her bedroom.
If I found something like this, I would never tell and I would sell them off slowly to not be suspicious.
I don’t feel a need to be famous and have the government seize my find...
The chocolate inside the coins alone must be worth at least 2000 hyrivnias!
Good of them to have done the right thing rather than, say, melt them down or sell them to a black market dealer.
Is the picture real? Obviously it is posed, but the box and coins look to shiny to have been buried, even if wrapped, for decades.
This belongs to Hunter Biden.
He is enroute to claim it
With what gold is going for per ounce, $345 K value means it’s only 102 ounces of gold, or a little over 6 pounds —hardly a treasure trove. Unless you own it personally, I guess....
I wonder how much they really found.
