can’t sell new cars if the old ones won’t die.
well. IDK about you, but I’d love to accept a 63 Vette split window.
Like I said mate, 50’s and bleeding over into 60’s somewwhaat were golden years..in more waays than one!😀
Yep. For the spanish speaking market, it was called the Caribe. Still a POS.
I watch youtube videos from mechanics on fixing issues with cars and trucks and it amazes me how stupid some things are designed and how hard they have made it to fix for the mechanics and expensive for the customer.
To meet their mileage numbers, some Chevy trucks had/have a thing that they automatically go from 8 cylinders down to 4 (going downhill, etc.). Trouble is the lubrication got messes up and the engines wore out.
I bought a ten year old truck and the guy had just put in a new engine (the same 8 to 4 cyl that blew on it). He had 2,000 miles on the new engine. I sent the computer board to some guy and for $50 he changed the switches or whatever to keep it on 8 cyl the entire time.
Scotty Kilmer says turbo engines have short lifespans. I believe that as well.
“how stupid some things are designed and how hard they have made it to fix for the mechanics and expensive for the customer”
A lot of people, myself included believe those designs are to push the uninformed to the dealership maintenance department for service.

“...The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure...”
I wonder where the parts were manufactured...
That’s where car dealers make their money anymore.
In service, not sales.
And dealers hate warranty work.
I feel for car owners.
It’s not going to be fun getting scheduling done.
Warranty work is always pushed to the back of the queue......another of many dispicable dealership practices.......I really hate them like poison.
How does one find guys that can do this?
They’ve narrowed it down to the crankshafts.
“The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components in these vehicles may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.”
“GM’s updated field data analysis identified a build period from March 1, 2021, to May 31, 2024, with an increased rate of potentially related engine failure claims. GM’s investigator reviewed findings from teardowns of field engines and data from a study of new, unused crankshafts. Supplier manufacturing and quality issues were identified at intermittent periods within the suspect build period, including (1) rod-bearing damage from sediment on connecting rods and crankshaft-oil galleries; and (2) out of specification crankshaft dimensions and surface finish.”

I think I was on the Chevy Avalanche Fanclub site (where I first learned about the engine problem). Somebody had posted the guy’s name.
I was boxing it up and my wife asked what I was doing and I told her.
“So - you’re sending off your computer board to some strange guy in the Midwest that you found on the internet!? Good luck with that!”
I bought the 2022 Lexus RX350. The last year of the V6. The newer ones have the 4 banger turbo, like the smaller NX. I have no interest in a turbo, or running premium gas.
Love that car! Only vehicle I’ve custom ordered. It took 10 months to get but it was worth the wait.
I bought a used Honda Passport w/ V6. My last car got totaled so I had to get a replacement fast and the newer ones on the lot were hybrids, turbos and electric. I like it a lot but the mileage ain’t great but that’s okay.
