A kid in The Netherlands could be in time out for a while.

The unnamed child is responsible for damaging a 1960 Mark Rothko painting reportedly worth €50 (about $56 million) inside the Boijmans Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam.

“The painting Grey, Orange on Maroon, No. 8 by Mark Rothko has sustained superficial damage after a child touched the painting when it was on display," the museum shared in a statement to PEOPLE. "As a result, small scratches are visible in the unvarnished paint layer in the lower part of the painting."

The museum added, Conservation expertise has been sought in the Netherlands and abroad. We are currently researching the next steps for the treatment of the painting. We expect that the work will be able to be shown again in the future."

I may not know art, but I know crap when I see it and that is crap! If it is so fragile that the touch of a child will damage it then they should have a rail in front of it or protect it with glass.

The Pantheon was my favorite spot in Rome.

I thought that was where the painting used to be. Holy crap, that isn’t art. If that is art, I am Batman...

Craig Ferguson did a bit on his feelings of distaste about Rothko's art in his 12/9/14 show. He was already high on my list, but shot up a few more points when I heard that.

The bit is at minute 9:44 thru 12:05, followed up by a short bit at 16:00 - 18:20 where he also takes a swipe at Taylor Swift. (Language warning)

Craig was the only decent late night talk show host since Carson.

I could do that, and if I can do it, it ain’t art.

I miss Craig's show so much! None of the others could hold a candle except Carson, and sometimes Leno.

The thing is, he is a person of considerable intellect that was not funneled into academia when he was young, so it comes as a surprise even to him. If he had not wasted so many brain cells when he was young and alcoholic (and kudos to him for quitting and for telling everyone about his recovery), he'd be working with Elon Musk on world problems. But his mind does shine through in so many ways. I've read a couple of his books. I find him hilarious... and also occasionally dead serious, like his lovely tribute when his father died.

This is also one of my all-time favorites, second only to his very last Late, Late, Late Show. This if your basic "Braveheart" Scots warrior sound:

He was also great on The Drew Carey Show.

WOW> I did not know or even suspect that. Thanks for that.

I read Rookmaaker's "Modern Art and the Death of a Culture" may years ago.

I don't recall if he mentioned the CIA-thing.

(might have to read it again)

George: What is Holland?
Jerry: What do you mean, what is it? It’s a country right next to Belgium.
George: No, that’s the Netherlands.
Jerry: Holland is the Netherlands.
George: Then who are the Dutch?

It's a cat's ass trophe.

Grand Rapids Michigan has a stabile in the gubmint plaza. Entitled "La Grande Vitesse" by its artist, the late Alexander Calder, it's generally just referred to locally as "The Calder" (hence, "Calder Plaza").

What it really is is a 42 ton red eyesore (or ass sore) that could really use visits by one or more of West Michigan's many Dutch kids.

Personally, I prefer the Seinfeld triangles art or the $500. George spent on that other crap art by Jerry’s girlfriend.
