"How can I help you today". That is what you see when you open Microsoft Edge's new tab page in the latest development version. Microsoft is replacing the traditional new tab page with a page that is all about Copilot. It is the second Copilot feature that has been added to Edge recently by Microsoft.
Currently, that is only an experiment, but there is a chance that this new AI-powered page is replacing the classic new tab page, at least as an option.
Snip....
Many of the interactions with Copilot redirect you to the Bing website where the results are shown. Pretty much anything that I typed was redirected to Bing. Any request to interact with the open tabs was ignored. It is possible that this is still in development and that interactions with tabs come at a later point in time.

It’s probably time to get serious about OpenOffice.
The guy who sold me my computers is a fan of Libre. If my old Office 2003 program disk craps out, then I’ll definitely look into Libre seriously.
Hubby has 365 on his systems. It’s disgusting. You have to RENT it.
Been using Linux exclusively for past m9nth or so without opening win dows at all- wasn’t on windows 3 minutes before a freaking blue screen of death happened- rebooted, another minute goes by, another body, then another- f8nally it calm3d down enough to do what I needed to do in windows- and that was windows 10- I had never had p4oblems with 10 until r3cent updates a few months ago- now i5 crashes as much as my windows 11 does.
I’d quit wind9ws altogether but have 3 programs that won’t run on windows 7 anymore beczuse they are all going to WI ndows 10,and above only now!
Ain’t that a hoot? Computers are getting faster and faster to boot to desktop HOWEVER, once there, windows tr8es forcing crap on us and we have to wait until it stops twisting our arms to use the computer.
I think with all the crap ms is doing, and al. The prblems it is causing, and with all the heavy costly ulgrades needed just to run the extortionist ms, we are gonna see a lot of people migration to Linux in the next few years
Check put YouTube videos for “remove copilot” or “permanently disable copilot” or some such title- they will walk you through how to do that
“Yep, that is a fact... Just figure on the purpose of all IA is exactly that.”
Perplexity is independent AI so a little better. I sign in with my email...not via google account. Grok3 is under X and Elon so less harm there. Though X does deal with data brokers.
Perplexity says this about Perplexity and data brokers>>>>
Perplexity does not have direct relationships with traditional data brokers in the sense of selling or reselling user data for marketing or profiling purposes. However, its data practices involve some sharing with third parties and business partners, which is important to clarify:
Data Sharing and Partnerships
Business Data Integrators: Perplexity partners with data providers like FactSet and Crunchbase to enrich its platform with high-quality, structured business and financial data. These partnerships are focused on delivering proprietary company and financial datasets to users, particularly those on Enterprise Pro plans, rather than selling user data to external brokers.
Third-Party Access: Perplexity does share some user data (such as mobile identifiers, hashed email addresses, and cookie identifiers) with advertisers and business partners. This is primarily for ad targeting and improving service delivery, and not for the purpose of external data brokering.
No AI Training by Third Parties: Perplexity’s agreements with third-party AI model providers (like OpenAI and Anthropic) explicitly prohibit those providers from using Perplexity user data to train their own models.
Privacy Policy and User Rights
Data Collection: Perplexity collects personal information (e.g., name, email), usage data (e.g., IP address, browser type), and uses cookies and tracking technologies.
Data Transfers: For users in the EU and UK, Perplexity complies with GDPR and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, ensuring that any cross-border data transfers use appropriate safeguards.
User Control: Users have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of their personal data, and data is retained only as long as necessary for service delivery.
Almost time to start getting serious about ditching windows too- I don’t know who the marketing “genious” at ms is, but they should be fired beczuse people are gonna leave ms in droves pretty soon. Especially now that gaming is easier on linux than ever before. Ms is really pissing off a lot of folks- 3spedially those that want co trol over their os’es and browsers, and who don’t like being spied on so heavily!
One thing with perplexity though that I have run into is that they are a bit woke and won’t allow certain questions if the questions are too nega5ive about liberalism- they call it “hate xpeech” and won’t answer despite there being no hate xpeech involved.
Open Office has been able to meet all my needs for over a decade.
You can easily reformat a doc to Word if necessary.
“wasn’t on windows 3 minutes before a freaking blue screen of death happened- rebooted, another minute goes by, another body, then another.”
They are even changing that... Now it will be a Green Screen of Death...
“Windows 11: Green Screen of Death is rolling out, what you need to know:
Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system displays a blue screen error page when something unexpected happens that requires a restart. Soon, Windows users will see a green screen of death instead. Here is what you need to know about the change.
The details:
Windows 11 test versions show a green screen error page when the device restarts unexpectedly.
The error page displays the stop code and “what failed” only.
The QR code, smiley, and link to a Windows help page are no longer displayed.
The new error page is empty for the most part. It includes the phrase “Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart” and technical information at the bottom.”
I remember the day when we didn’t have or need AI at all lived just fine without it. I still remember that day like it was just yesterday. I remember it just like it is today.
It is a huge trap and mistake and I’m not doing it...
The error codes flash by so fast I can’t see what they are. I know there is a list of unexpected shutdown file somewhere, but I always forget where- I spend too much time with windows errors! There is a “fix” that is something like “scanfsc” but deeper scan- now I have to look that up again, and run it- it wo4ked one time, stopped all the bsods- now ill have to fix the gsods I guess
I gu3ss what needs to be done is to put a link on desktop to the file location for the error reporting file. I’ve been able to figure out a couple of error fixes from those files, but many are obscure with no real help to fix em. But like I said, I spend too much time trying to fix windows- its gotten really bad- windows 7 never had these problems, at least not for me-
I’ve be3n using it to write a novel- pretty helpful really. Catches all my grammar mistakes, phrase mistakes e5c. And helps flesh out chapters when I get stuck for ideas.
Yes, that article explains how to find that MS error log so you can look later after the blue screen is done. But that is what I like about Linux, it tells you exactly what the errors are and points you in the right direction to fix them. :)

Thanks to 2111USMC for the ping!

I do not want to use any browser that multiple tab rows cannot be enabled in. As is the case with most Chromium-based browsers, versus Gecko-based as Floorp and Midori (enabled in both under about:preferences#design) and Firefox (via hacks). And that one cannot run more than one instances of the browser concurrently with another.
Thank God for good alternatives for good purposes.
I haven't seen an screen of death for years AFAIR, after I increased compatible RAM, running at staple Hz, working with with SSD and NVME drives. Despite running multiple browsers with hundreds of open tabs, plus many documents, and programs.
