And we have idiots all the time, even on this very forum that sharks don't present a threat to us. My default position is that they do, and will act accordingly.

This guy quoted above doesn't seem to get that. But the "child" did.

About 35 years ago, I had an opportunity to converse for several hours with a man who had served on the USS Indianapolis when she was sunk. That conversation, and seeing how it affected him 45 years after the event left a deep impression on me. At one point, he couldn't even speak aloud about it. 45 years after the fact.

A boat supply shop customer of mine in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia told me this story.

A dive boat was found offshore in the Red Sea. The divers from the boat were all floating nearby with their BC's inflated but weren't responding. When they were pulled out nothing from the chest down was left.

That body of water is packed with sharks.

...This would be just the third recorded shark attack in Israel, according to Ben-Ari. One person was killed in an attack in the 1940s.

The area, where warm water released by a nearby power plant flows into the sea, has for years attracted dozens of sharks between October and May. Ben-Ari said swimming is prohibited in the area, but swimmers enter the water anyway...
