Kelly Tran’s The Wedding Banquet, which was advertised as a big, widely-released, queer, super-woke, gay remake died like few movies ever have at the box office this weekend.
This isn’t get woke, go broke.
This is get woke, shove a stick in your spokes, hit the ground, start to choke, have a stroke, and then croak broke.

Mrs cport must have been tuned in to Mrs L’s wavelength. She picked “The Amateur”, and a good choice it was. Good spy thriller with an interesting premise. The Lurker couple might enjoy as well. Her second choice was get one you saw.
Damn it! The one you saw.
Surprisingly, they were right about Godzilla Minus One.
It was an excellent film.
In the past, some critics would lift an obscure movie up to prominence and I would see it. Most of the time, they were great films.
Lately, though, I rely more on audience feedback or new media critics before wasting my time and money.
,,, the only reason I’d watch this is to see how big the garage is.
Need a theater release to be Oscar-eligible, imo.
Wonder how many nominations it will receive?
I know and just imagine what the sequel ‘The Wedding Banquet 2’ will be like!! I can’t wait!!!
Gonna need a biologist to figure out all this.
When I see the crap that’s being selected for films and printed into books I shake my head a think twice about trying to get published.
think again. if you like what you publish, there are more people out there like you than you can imagine… i am working on publishing books i wrote 29 years ago… but am working towards publishing them.
good luck
🤣👍
Thanks very much. Malik is an outstanding actor. He was great in The Pacific and Bohemian Rhapsody.

“Need a theater release to be Oscar-eligible, imo.”
only need a handful of theaters for that, though ... i remember when “The Irishman” was released in only a handful of theaters around the nation for only about a week or so for that purpose ... the major chains refused to release it at all because Netflix funded it and intended to get their money back via direct-to-streaming only on Netflix just a few days after the limited theater release, and the major chains boycotted releasing the film to protest releasing it to streaming so quickly after theater release ...
“Wonder how many nominations it will receive?”:
that’s a good question, though ... the film certainly checks enough leftist check-boxes, none of them being in any way related to quality of entertainment, of course ...
Indeed. I’ve seen The Pacific, that was an intense role. However, I didn’t watch it until after I had seen Mr. Robot; that is when he caught my attention as an actor. We need to launch a movie review collab…Lurker and cport ala siskel and ebert without the progressive pretension lol
We’ll only review films our spouses have chosen
China owns a lot of America media and outlets
