Professional sports leagues push gun control
American Thinker ^ | 21 Apr, 2025 | Mike McDaniel

Professional sports are all about mom, apple pie and the flag, right? Baseball is our “national pastime,” football is our national religion, basketball is…well…marketing for athletic shoes? And hockey is an advertisement for restorative dentistry? Anyway, these leagues are supposed to be red, white and blue. Apart, that is, from some knee taking and refusing to stand for the National Anthem, buying into the whole “America is systemically racist” thing, supporting trans this and that, and OK, the Budweiser debacle, which is at least sort of associated with them.

Sigh. Sports used to be so simple. Players were expected to be clean-cut role models, to keep their mouths shut about politics and concentrate on playing the game and demonstrating the character building virtues of sportsmanship and teamwork. Seems like so long ago…

The National Hockey League (NHL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), and numerous other professional sports leagues are asking Congress for more gun control via reauthorization of the Undetectable Firearms Act.

On February 10, 2024, Gun Owners of America (GOA) used an X post to call out NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS, NBA, and NASCAR, for sending the letter to Congress. They noted that collegiate giant NCAA signed the letter, too...

What the heck is the “Undetectable Firearms Act?” It was first introduced in 1988 as Glocks began to conquer the market. While their frames are made of polymer, some 80%+ of their weight is steel. There is no such thing as a “undetectable” gun made of plastic or some other material that can’t be detected by X-ray. Plastic is visible to X-rays as this image proves:

If these “sports” leagues would keep their players under control, they wouldn’t need to pimp gun control for the DemonRATS. Thier players are constantly being knocked in the head and receive serious brain damage. Even NASCAR. Ask Dale Jr. That isn’t a problem caused by American gun owners.

Shooting sports have always been our national pastime, not baseball. Shooting Indians, Frenchmen, Redcoats, Mexicans, Rebels, more Indians, Spaniards, Nazis, Japs, Chicoms, Viet Cong, various Arabs, and other assorted varmints made America great.

Yank their tax exemptions, every last one of them.

It is repugnant that the inalienable rights of We The People would be attacked by korporations we subsidize.

The mentality of the average sports fanatic shows they don’t think for themself and what they do think is actually group think. Brian Kilmeade is a good example of that type of schmuck

“Even NASCAR? What are they thinking?”

They’re thinking that their fans are TOO DUMB to understand that they’re DESPISED by top management of these leagues.

...it’s up to us to ‘Bud Lite’ them, if we’re capable of doing that.

I remember 1968 when Bobby Kennedy was murdered by a Palestinian Immigrant. The US went bonkers for “gun control” in Tv shows, movies, news paper editorials, I still remember so many Hollywood actors who suddenly jumped on the gun control bandwagon so this is nothing new.
Made up names...
SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!
ARMY SURPLUS WAR RIFLE designed to KILL PEOPLE!.
Plastic framed pistol for airline hijackings.
Dum-Dum Bullets!
EXPLODING BULLETS.
COP KILLER BULLETS.
Sawed off shotgun
Street sweeper
As-s-s-ault rifle
As-s-s-ault pistol...
GHOST GUNS!
All names designed to frighten the public.

There was a time when local gunsmiths and blacksmiths could legally make a firearm for people.

I think he meant Smurfs?

Now, why would they want to turn us into blue skinned midgets?

They should probably start with the players in these leagues.

I never will.

Sports lost me in the mid 80s.

Never really cared since.

Time to boycott sports and let them know why.

This is funny, since more gun crimes have been comitted by professional sports members, NFL mostly, than anyone in my household.
