All I see is her distance running and SCUBA cert. That was me when I was much younger, so could I have been a SEAL? Not likely.

The SEALs want much more than that. The physical and mental demands are beyond what the vast majority of men can meet, much less a woman.

No way the Navy could even consider her for Seal training. But maybe for people like her, the Navy could give them Walrus training.

The US Navy officials failed to advance Amanda S. Reynolds’ application, then told her in the fall that she would no longer qualify for Naval Officer Training Command in Newport, RI, because she’d be over the age limit of 42 by the time she graduated, according to court papers.

Forty-something woman wants to go to SEAL school? It's laughable on its face. Even if she is a world-class athlete in some category it would still be nigh impossible.

I have a nephew who wrestles at the D-I NCAA level. He is an incredible athlete and and his dream is the SEALS after university. But he knows as does everyone else it will still be a world-class grind.

Seems to be more mental to make it.

To be fair, the physical training for seals isn’t that special.

They couldn’t even keep up with us up the hills in Tora bora. They had to keep stopping to “tie their boots and adjust kit” lol. Now Delta, now we’re talking a whole different animal. Seals should stick to Hollywood.

This woman is mental. She has no business or intention of going through SEAL training.

High level military training is much more than just being “strong.”

When my son in law was going through it he explained this way: In boot camp you just have to react, learn, and mentally endure. At the highest level it’s like sprinting 100 yards, jumping up through a hoop six feet off the ground while having to answer Jeopardy questions—at all the highest possible speed. You cannot miss a question, and you have to run faster than just about everyone else, and you can’t hit the edge of the hoop.

And do it all without sleep for the last week.

Of course he wasn’t being literal, but I think it likely hit the gist of what he went through.

My son had a friend who was in military program at college. She got a nursing degree, then got a Master’s degree in nursing. When she went on active duty she went in as a Lieutenant Commander.

In addition, she waits until Trump is inaugurated +? Why the delay?

Left us to die more than once. Few hundred witnesses. What you believe or don’t makes no difference to me. Like many people these days, most people with weak minds can’t have their world views challenged. They shut down.

...attempted to enlist as an officer

Just to clarify, officers don't enlist but are instead granted a commission.

attempted to enlist as an officer (ensign or a higher rank depending on her skills)

You don't enlist as an officer. You are commissioned as an officer usually after completing training through an officer accession program. You are likely to "enlist" at the E-5 pay rate for the time you are in officer training. There are direct commissioning programs as well usually for Doctors and Nurses where you are sworn in and commissioned and then attend officer orientation course to learn how to wear the uniform and put on the insignia of the rank to which you are assigned and the proper manner of saluting those who are now your superiors. Oh and its a ship not a boat unless it is a submarine and if you call a submarine a ship it shows that you know nothing about submarines.

You’re accusing me of having a weak mind?

You’re not representing Delta very well today at all.

Maybe they’ve changed the rules, but I am pretty sure they do a direct commission for lawyers. That’s how the former First Addict\Artist Hunter Biden had a brief and glorious Naval career. However, his love of nose candy caused his “decommissioning”. Thus ended his opportunity to displace the memory of John Paul Jones.

So she wanted not just to be a SEAL, but to be a SEAL officer. And waited until her mid-30s to even seek a commission, got a DWI, and now she’s in her 40s?

Women have no place there. Period.
