A seven-month-old girl from Columbus, Ohio, has lost her life following an attack by one of her family's three pet pit bulls. The child's mother, Mackenzie Copley, expressed her grief in a Facebook post, writing, “I will never understand why!!!” She also shared images of her daughter Elizah Turner, peacefully cuddling with the dogs. “I am so lost and broken. This was the same dog who was side by side with my baby every single day,” added the mother, according to a report in The New York Post.
Elizah's father, Kameron Turner, also poured out his sorrow on social media, stating, “Life is so not fair. How can I continue living without her.”
The Franklin County Coroner's Office confirmed the identity of the 7-month-old girl. Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua said that Elizah was bitten by a family dog at a home located in the 3700 block of South Champion Avenue, according to a report in WBNS.
Fuqua described the incident as a heartbreaking and sudden tragedy, noting that the situation escalated very quickly and appeared to be accidental.
“There are really not a lot of words I can say to convey how I feel and how the officers who arrived. Everyone in this process is literally grieving as if this child belonged to us because most of us are parents and can't imagine just how this scene is,” Fuqua was quoted as saying. Remembering Elizah, her obituary described her as a joyful and vibrant child: “Lizah was spunky, happy… and she was never without a smile. She brought light to everyone's life, healed her family's hearts and gave them all purpose. Elizah's face would light up the room and her laugh was contagious.”

First of all let me state my wife and daughter both are dog breeders.
They also show at AKC Confirmation shows.
Pit bulls are the main breed ai shelters.
This is because they are bred by people who fight them. They are also very popular in thug society where they don’t spay or neuter their pets.
So the shelters get a lot of pit bull mixes.
Shelters make most of their income on “adoption”.
Which means they are SELLING dogs that really should be put to sleep.
Most of these dogs come from either the blue cities or the southern USA.
Some also are imported from the Caribbean.
Generally, they don’t come from the northeast where most people have the money to spay and neuter their pets.
So, they are tricked up from the south.
There is a lot of money in adoption.
People who adopt have to pay the shelters hundreds of dollars.
It is how they fund their business primarily.
Pitbull pups don’t usually come from puppy mill farms.
They concentrate on whatever is the most popular breed at the pet store.
Many puppy mills are run by the Amish.
There are also large operators in the MO, AR that have factory farms.
Most of these dogs end up at pet stores.
Dogs are jealous creatures.
They get very jealous of the attention the human gives to other dogs and the baby.
I see this all the time with our Chihuahuas.
The difference is that the Chihuahua can not kill me. A pitbull could.
The shelters are the main problem.
Plus the commercials on TV making people feel sorry for the poor pathetic shivering pup.
Shelters sell the pitbull to a family and write out the registration as a LAB mix.
This is because they know that many insurance companies will drop your coverage IF you have a Pitbull.
So, thy intentionally lie to SELL you the dog.
It is also a case of the dog meting out discipline that is meant for a dog and not a baby.

Daschounds are more likely to bite than any other breed. Guess why?
They were bred to go down in a hole and kill badgers.
The difference is that the bite from a wiener dog is NOT likely to KILL you.
Same story with our Chihuahuas.
We have a Chihuahua that strikes at me like a Viper if I surprise her when she is sleeping.
However, she weighs 4 pounds.
It is a natural instinct with the breed.
Same story with Dachshunds.
Same story with all dogs.
All Terriers were bred to kill vermin.
All hounds were bred to hunt.
Some breeds were specifically bred for protection like Doberman’s. They will literally put themselves between their human and any threat. My daughter breeds Doberman’s.
Pitbulls were bred to fight a male bovine in a ring and clamp on to its snout by biting it and not letting go. Then people started fighting the same breed against other dogs.
The ones that end up at the shelter are the inferior fighters.
However, they come from a lineage of fighting.
That is what they are bred to do.
There was a news item about 15 years ago where one of the German states issued an edict in response to the death of a child by a pit bull that anyone who owned a pit bull had 48 hours to get it to another part of Germany; any pit bull found in that state (Brandenburg?) after that time would be put down.

I am not a fan of pitties or their owners.
Yes I am aware there are pitbull lovers on FR, good for you.
Something tells me both of these two ding dongs are on the spectrum.
Our local shelter here in Ohio is also overflowing with pit bulls and pit mixes. Frankly, I’m amazed that they are even available for adoption, due to possible liability issues. I thought they would be put down upon entry to the shelter.
In the dog’s defense, that’s what pit bulls do.

There is a lot of speculation on why people acquire a pit bull, I have learned that one of the reasons is that they are so readily available, in the lower income working class areas they are everywhere, free, in shelters, as new puppies, everywhere.
If you suddenly want a dog and are a low income quick fix type you just grab what is available, and it won’t be a golden retriever, or a Keeshond, or a lab, so a whole lot of this pit bull stuff is not from careful consideration and in-depth looking.
It makes me wonder why...if they loved their daughter so much... that they would allow 3 pit bulls to be in close proximity to her at any time.
I had one, which got loose from a neighborhood home, run up on my porch one afternoon, wagging its rear end. Once the owner retrieved it, I firmly told the owner if the pit bull ever appeared on my property again, I would kill it.
I have not seen the dog since.
