In the past 25 years in the USA approximately 1000 people have been killed by dogs. The numbers killed by dog breed are

Pit bulls (including American Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, and mixes) account for 66% of fatalities (346 of 521 deaths from 2005–2019), despite being ~6.5–8% of the dog population.
