As Entertainment Industry Flees California, People Fear Los Angeles Could Become ‘the Next Detroit’
Gateway Pundit ^

Posted on 04/18/2025 9:43:40 PM PDT by Tench_Coxe

California has been losing population for the last two years due to high taxes and regulations. Up until now, most of the people leaving the state are just average people seeking greener pastures.

Now the entertainment industry is starting to flee the state for many of the same reasons. What happens to Los Angeles when there is no more Hollywood? It’s a huge part of the city’s identity.

(snip)

None of this is going to change if they keep electing the same kind of leaders. Why do none of them understand this?

“Census Bureau 2024 Estimate: 40.4% Hispanic”

I’d like to have iHeart commercials in Spanish AND English, so I know what is available here in Florida.

“State Farm” take notice.

You have a valid concept where you indicated the movie industry is competing against itself with past production.

The best production is from the mid 30’s to the late 60’s. The next best era is from the late 60’s to the late 90’s.

From the late 90’s to now it gets progressively worse. Most of this is so political or so nasty it’s literally unwatchable. Coincidentally this worst era is when the democrats got their firm grip on our culture.

That was exactly the aim of LA RAZA 40 years ago.

To amputate one of the most beautiful and productive areas of the USA and make it part of Latin America.

And we have played into their hands.

Those people trashed the industry all by themselves. Now, they want to walk away

These numbers are well outdated now but show what happened to Los Angeles.

“During the 1920s and 1930s Los Angeles was a bastion of Anglo Protestantism, reflecting the values of Midwestern parishioners who had been carried to the Southland on the Southern Pacific Railroad. Well into the 1970s, Protestant denominational leaders enjoyed comfortable, influential ties with the city’s still-strong “downtown business
establishment,” which itself was largely Protestant.

The Immigration Act of 1965, however, created the condition for a radically different religious future for the City of Angels-a future that would anoint Roman Catholicism as the area’s dominant religious group. Today Roman Catholicism is the single largest faith tradition in Los Angeles County, with 294 parishes and 3,631,368 adherents.
Among Christians, 71% are Catholics. Between 1980 and 1997, Roman Catholicism experienced a 36% growth.”

No amount of logic, facts, and reason are going to persuade emotional people. The denizens of Hollywood have a worldview driven by their own lusts. They’ll never admit the consequences of their decisions, and will simply make them somewhere else.

The fact that LA burned and many of the businesses that are “Hollywood” escaped by just a few blocks and good luck is an important cause of the exodus.

The cream of LA burned. The dregs of LA remain.

My sister has a condo with a view of the river. I like Detroit. Grew up in Flint.

Detroit—like many American cities—resembles third world cities.

They are small beautiful enclaves of the wealthy—and then miles and miles of wasteland.

Hey Californians ... keep electing Democrats to run your state like Detroit has done and see what happens.

Fifty years ago the most popular bumper sticker in Colorado was...
“DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!”

Well, it has been, and bad! Now they are moving in on New Mexico.

California is like an infected pustule that explodes, sending it’s virus all over the west to infect other states, and turning them into the hell hole the people fled from.

Glad to hear that.
It’s been nice to see the turnaround downtown and in the neighborhoods also.
Still work to be done but the groundwork is in place.👍

The Catholic vote has enabled the left and sustained the democratic party in America and in California but I don’t get the second part of your post, the Mexicans who moved to Mexico are just regular Mexicans.

Mexicans come in different flavors.

The Spanish descended Mexican

The indigenous descended Mexican

Look at the difference between the Indian field hands and wealthy Mexican ruling class

I know all that and have spent much time in Mexico over my lifetime, I just don’t understand what you were saying, California has all those Mexicans, not just some special class of Mexican.
