Studies can and often ARE jiggered to have the results that those doing it wanted from the start!
Reagan was happily married; so, supposedly is Biden. So there are two more examples...of well known people. I'm sure that there are many more.
Though not all old people will get dementia, it IS usually quite old people who get it.
Hell, son. I could have told you that.
I’m late to the party….is there any popcorn left ?
Oddly enough, my ex mother-in-law got dementia not long after getting a shot.
At a certain point, you just want to forget everything
Best laugh I’ve had all day!! Thanks, I really needed it.
Bingo.
I don't know what it has to do with marriage or dementia but the doctor who snipped my infant formation seems to have done a good job.
I had a wonderful father, and my mother was beautiful but a total nutcase who was mean to her children.
She got a special form of dementia, Korsakov’s Syndrome. You may know that’s caused by too much booze.. Gin and tonic in her case.
No.
Because 98.54% of everything published by Greek Reporter is rather iffy.
So one guy, two wives !
Doubtful. 🙄
“There is someone who sees them everyday and gets them to the doctor once they first notice the sign and symptoms of the disease. Therefore, there are more diagnoses earlier in life for married people.”
About 10-15 years ago, we saw the opposite when victims of these terrible mind diseases were often in an outing by them selves at a social or after work session.
Studies have shown that [married people] are at reduced risk of having heart disease and stroke and they tend to live longer. So why did the new study come up with this surprising finding?
Why is it surprising? They live longer, hence more likely to get dementia.
Thou doth protest too much :)
Re drinking alcoholic drinks...Of the people I know or knew, who had/have dementia, 1 is an especially heavy drinker, one was a social drinker, and the other two weren't even social drinkers, but did indulge very rarely.
Okay, a very small sample, from me, but I only talk about things I know and I haven't done any studies on it.
I was perfectly clear, so WHAT confused you?
Me thinks that you are just seeking attention...go away.
What happened to “married men live longer”?
Does that mean the men live long enough to get dementia?
Harvard study said 69 months longer if married.
CDC study said 2 years longer.
National Library of Medicine said 2.2 to 2.4 years longer.
First two researchers thought the women may have influenced them to eat healthy and not smoke, plus added a purpose to life.
RE: The people I’ve known developed the problem after a spouse died.
That makes a lot of sense. I’ve had “complicated grief” lasting now 3 years after my wife died and I really hope I can keep dementia away. Depression and lack of children and grandchildren aren’t helping. Made it past the retirement one (various statistics of males dying soon after they retired).
Ozzie Nelson of Ozzie and Harriet read that most people who write their autobiography die a short time later. He made some efforts to do producing and new work and fended that off.
I’m feeling much better lately, though, all thanks to God.
