"...a small amount of North African and Sub-Saharan ancestry can be detected in the Spanish, it is largely absent from the Basques."

But that's not looking at North African ancestry going back 7,000 years. Because they didn't know about this earlier people group.

Also, the moors controlled Spain from about 750 AD to 1500 AD. That’s going to leave some north african genes.
