John Boyega decides to help Star Wars' popularity by calling fans racist: "The most whitest, elite space"

As if Disney didn't have enough to worry about with its ongoing string of disappointing returns for its Star Wars projects, sequel trilogy star John Boyega decided to chime in with a new interview and call fans of the popular space opera saga racists.

Yes, that's just what a flagging intellectual property needed — accuse all of its devoted fans of not being willing to accept non-white characters.

Boyega, who played stormtroop-turned-resistance-fighter "Finn" in the sequel trilogy, makes the allegation in a new AppleTV+ documentary titled Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood, which, one could assume, is about black leading men in Hollywood.

From Variety:

'Lemme tell ya, Star Wars always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It's a franchise that's so white that a Black person existing in [it] was something,' Boyega said in the documentary. 'You can always tell it's something when some Star Wars fans try to say, "Well, we had Lando Calrissian and had Samuel L. Jackson!" It's like telling me how many cookie chips are in the cookie dough. It's like, they just scattered that in there, bro!'

Boyega then goes on to say that Star Wars' super-white fanbase is only willing to accept black actors in specific roles.

'They're okay with us playing the best friend, but once we touch their heroes, once we lead, once we trailblaze, it's like, "Oh my God, it's just a bit too much! They're pandering,"' the actor added, while also acknowledging that being cast in the franchise was a 'fundamental moment' in his career.

Apparently lost on Boyega is the fact that Star Wars fans were actually disappointed that more wasn't done with his character of Finn. Many argued that he should have been the main character of the sequel "trilogy" (if you can call it that).

Disney left him to perform side quests and run around screaming "REEEEEEEEEEEY!" all the time.

(No but really, he ran around yelling her name A LOT)

Here's an idea, John: Be grateful for winning the lottery ticket of getting to be featured in a Star Wars trilogy.

It's not the fans' fault your storyline sucked.

His first movie Carbon Copy. Black son shows up as an adult to white father’s house.

I thought all the new ones stunk except Rogue One. All 3 were the same ole’ story with better animation. Force, rebels, bad guys. I did like Adam Driver and his character. Boyega and the guy that played Poe sucked.

Rogue One was the best of the new era, I found that one pretty good with a little different storyline and a good cast. The Solo movie was over the top in trying to make Han a rascal and it didn’t take.

Yep, his character was supposed to be a bigger part, but changed after the first movie.

I stand corrected. The movie looks funny, but I don’t think I’d actually want to see it.

I liked Eddie Murphy in the movie Trading Places, also Beverly Hills Cops. That he was a black guy was obvious but seemed more like a fact than an issue worthy of shame or blame.

Members of the Vulcan race are way underrepresented in the Star Trek franchise. It’s Vulcanism. It makes me want to explode.

Whoopi Goldberg in Star Trek was just a wasted character IMO. She was supposed to be wise, but never said anything wise, as far as I can remember. It’s like someone from above in the organization said, “find a role for Whoopi.” Well, that gets a checkmark.

Eh he was okay, did about as good as anyone could with the slop that was those 3 movies… Star Wars has had some real stinker actors. I wouldn’t put this guy in that category. The Asian chick “love interest” “Rose” or whatever she was called was an absolute terrible actress… she made the guy who played Anakin in the prequels look talented.

Yes she was really bad. Disney went about the 3 movies they made in the trilogy all wrong. They first thought was to cast DEI hires first and make it fit the script.

I know they have been others explaining the black stormtroopers but that was added later to explain his casting. He was cast only cause he was black just like Rey was made a women Mary Sue.

These decision crippled the film from the start but it could have been better if they had followed some kind of plan. The whole first movie set up several story lines which the second movie destroyed them all. Finn’s role was supposed to be more important and then the second movie just made him a clown.

The whole movie shifted and he was reduced to a bumbling sidekick. I can image he was annoyed. His screaming racism is a lot of gall because he only got the role because he was black.

The first Disney Star Wars was basically a copy of the first Star Wars movie, but with a female and she was better than Luke in every way.

They brought back all 3 of the classic characters and didn’t have all 3 in a scene together. They killed off Hans Solo and then Luke Skywalker and left Leia the only one alive. And then in a perverse twist, the actress that played her actually died.

They were handed the biggest cash cow ever, set it up to make billions and then just said Nah, I’m good. And then proceeded to trash it every way from Sunday.

He was a pointless silly character that amounted to nothing in the show. He was only put in there so that liberals running the project could virtue signal.

i was ready to walk out on this movie... white girl falls for a deserting black storm trooper and what was equivalent to about 18 hours in real time, after they met, they both cried and held each other when they had to separate...

Hey Boyegga... most of America goes to see starwars for the action and dialogue. Not to see another black guy white girl relationship!!

How fkng stupid and blatantly obvious the brainwashing attempt was...

I totally gave up on the star wars saga after that one...

Who ?

I admit, I saw the first three, once . After that , I figured they were trying to squeeze some more $ out of the theme. Have not had any desire to watch any of them, even the original trio as a rewatch .

The dusky wanker can wank off.

“They killed off Hans Solo”

In fairness, Harrison Ford hated the re-do and only agreed to participate if he promptly died.

Clearly, Ford is the smartest of the bunch.

Yet they made him a force ghost and brought him back anyway for the last Star Wars movie cause they screwed up the second one so bad.
