Officials say Alabamians should be on the lookout for packages of “unsolicited” seeds arriving through the mail.
The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) has announced it recently received reports of the seeds being delivered to residents across the state through the United States Postal Service.

Didn’t know what to expect on Triffic Day, but it was a lot less than I anticipated. Just didn’t have the same zing as Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, Tarantula or even The Mole People.
the same thing happened 3-4 years ago ... i warned folks then, and i’m warning them again: DO NOT PLANT THESE SEEDS; THEY ARE PROBABLY TRIFFID SEEDS!!!
This could be a type of bio-warfare.
After 9/11 the agriculture departments at the university I graduated from were very much focused on intentionally introduced crop and animal diseases.

The USPS is the least reliable, most expensive,> and most trackable method that China, or anyone else, could devise for introducing some noxious plant. Especially since virtually all such packages will go straight into the trash.
Just scatter some across the country in favorable locations. Seeds and weeds know what to do. They will take care of business naturally. Why pay postage and hope people will plant something unknown and unsolicited in their yards and gardens? Send a dozen “students” on cross country vacation trips by car. Scatter them in public parks, along the roadsides, or along streams.
Plant species can be identified by its seed, not whether the seed is good or bad. Thus, the desirability of a plant can be determined by the seed. I believe that was your point.
