Bogart was a big-time Lefty.

For me, the “King of Cool” was truly Robert Mitchum. And he was a Republican who endorsed Goldwater and Reagan.

Another favorite was George Raft, when there was drama to keep you interested.

I doubt if today’s teens could set through the first part of 55 DAYS AT PEKING or KHARTOUM or FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.
Back then there was real drama between the action sequences, not like a roller coaster ride from start to finish.
