President Donald Trump revealed that a staffer with national security advisor Mike Waltz's office included the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic in a Signal group chat with senior Trump officials who were discussing plans for an upcoming strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen.
"It was one of Michael’s people on the phone. A staffer had his number on there," Trump told NBC in a phone interview when asked how Jeffrey Goldberg, the Atlantic's editor-in-chief, was added to the high-profile chat.

“Why did that ‘staffer’ have a direct line to The Atlantic journalist?”
My thought also. Why would this guy’s number be even close to the White House? It’s like ‘accidently’ sending your ex-wife an invitation to your wedding.
Agree. Expect multiple “wrap up smears” by the Dems. They’re really good at rousing up their base. The hysterical Hate Mongering must be kept at 11.
He needs to be flushed.
I’m willing to accept that a staffer, perhaps a plant, added the “journalist” to the group. But in that scenario, I don’t understand why Pete Hegseth was using Signal to discuss these things with Waltz and the VP, especially after they put out a memo just a week previous saying it’s not secure. This seems like the inevitable result of continued use of an insecure means of communication.
I think there’s also a possibility that Waltz is compromised, given that he’s been a congress critter. And that would be a challenge because Team Trump wouldn’t want to chum the waters by sacrificing him early on.
The publication lost all credibility in 2020.

The Ap was already on devices. They should have known better than to use anything held over from Biden
And why does Goldberg even have a Signal account? He is not your typical Signal user.
Already on guv-issued devices. This guy shouldn’t have been on anyone’s guv phone and they shouldn’t have been using personal phones.

PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY.
Waltz: I saw nothing. I heard nothing. I just know my staffer was a lone inadvertent leaker of group chat invites.
The poor fellow feels real bad and he will take one for his team if he must.
Of course, which team is he talking about.
The team of which he is officially employed or the team he holds his allegiance to and pays him more than his day job.
An additional reflective thought.
The history of homosexuals and national security has not been pretty.
Just look at the history of intelligence agencies in the UK.
Just because a guy is out of the close does not mean he is immune from compromise.
Indeed... Why would any “staffer” have a left rag’s Editor and Chief’s phone number at the ready!! I can smell it from here!!
Atlantic editor Jeff Goldberg weighs ‘obligation’ of releasing more ‘war plans’ texts – as he reveals undercover CIA agent’s identity was exposed [03/26/2025 Wednesday]
I still think this was a deliberate set up by Trump.
Why would the former Liz Cheney Advisor, Waltz, have Liberal Goldberg’s number on his phone?
Was Waltz a leaker to Goldberg when he was an advisor to Cheney?
If this is true this feels more like a sting than a leak - both on the part of the staffer and on the part of Trump’s team. Now the Trump team has proof of either incompetence or sabotage and can get rid of this person.

It’s sounds to me that the Satanic DemonRATS have figured out that their weaponized LAWFARE gig with moronic “district judges” is about to start crumbling so this was their next act of treasonous insurrection to use to try to bring down the American voters’ choice of leadership. Just another “Watergate style scandal” thought up by the RATS and their toadies in the far-left national “media”.
That should be question #1, right?
Should be the overall tone of the thread imho.
As I’ve stated all along, “smells.”
