After a handful of underwhelming relationships and dozens of disappointing first dates, Andrea Vorlicek recently called off the search for a husband.
The 29-year-old always thought she’d have found her life partner by now. Instead, she’s house hunting solo and considering having kids on her own.
“I’m financially self-sufficient enough to do these things myself,” said Vorlicek, a Boston-based accountant. “I’m willing to accept being single versus settling for someone who isn’t the right fit.”
She sees her plans for an independent future as making the best of a lousy situation. “I don’t want to sit here and say I’m 100% happy,” Vorlicek said. “But I feel happier just accepting my reality. It’s mentally and emotionally a sense of peace.”
American women have never been this resigned to staying single. They are responding to major demographic shifts, including huge and growing gender gaps in economic and educational attainment, political affiliation and beliefs about what a family should look like.
“The numbers aren’t netting out,” said Daniel Cox, director of the survey center at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a conservative think tank. He ticked off the data points: More women than men are attending college, buying houses and focusing on their friendships and careers over dating and marriage.

Then they're shallow, emotionally immature fools.
Looks and bodies fade, even men's, but character lasts a lifetime.
We are in the midst of a massive genetic shift in the Homo Sapien species.
Women are demanding that their partners be "tall". Just read any commentary on dating web sites. The NUMBER ONE attribute for a man is height. This may even be a sub conscious preference.
Technology is speeding this process up to warp speed. In the future shorter men (85% of males) are not going to breed. Taller men will inseminate single women and give birth to taller and taller males. This process will take probably several generations but its happening for sure. Traditional marriage does not work in this female dominated genetic march to height.

Seen it FAR too often.
Most men in their 20s are having FAR LESS sex than most women in their 20s. So most men aren't sleeping around....
First, men’s biological needs are different from women’s. I mean that in the sense of what each gender wanted from each other is different.
Second, that’s just not true. Some men were unfaithful, but so were some women.
Third, youth and beauty is about the only thing a woman really has to offer a man, that a man cannot get on his own. If that is not available, what is she putting on the table that is worth to a man to accept? She will be getting his income and everything else that a woman wants from a man, but what does he get?
It is not “hypocrisy” when you want the best deal you can get.
That is what everyone (both sexes) wants.
What is different is that men don’t whine that “all the good women are taken”.
Almost all men in that situation understand that their short-comings are part of the issue—and it is their burden to improve those.
Most women are in deep denial about their short-comings—so of course there is nothing to improve.
This is a prime example of blaming one sex for their ingrained preferences. You can shake your fist at the heavens all you like. Men are still going to want what they want. Its just as futile to call women shallow, emotionally insecure fools for preferring men who have successful careers. Women are still going to want that no matter how much abuse anybody hurls at them for wanting that in a mate. You might as well just accept that the sexes each prefer different things in a mate instead of being judgmental/negative about it.

Most white collar women have “character” all right....
Bossy character
Demanding character
Lack of introspection character
Selfish character.
Yup—character matters.
Any hint of “Karen” traits and men run for the hills.
Deep State has more to do with it.
And it will be delighted to see that its war on the healthy, happy, intact nuclear family continues bearing fruit.

Nothing says *It's all about ME!* louder than this sort of thinking.
If someone wants to marry someone for what they want out of it, then they'd be better off hiring someone to do what they want done, because a marriage is doomed to failure.
NOBODY needs to be married to a child in an adult body.
I should add, yes looks fade. But when a woman who has a lot of options chooses a man, he knows she truly wanted to be with him. That is a huge deposit in the bank of goodwill that she can draw upon (if he's got any good sense) for the rest of their lives together. If he's a good man like my dad was through 44 years of marriage until he passed, he will look at her no matter how old they get and all he will see is the girl who CHOSE him when she could have had a lot of other men. That counts for a hell of a lot with most men.
Conversely, if they play the field in their 20s and especially if they've shot him down in flames in that time and then have what I call the "magical change of heart" in their 30s after they've hit the wall, they deposit no goodwill in the bank to draw upon. They came into the relationship with little to offer and did so only because they were feeling desperate. Later if there are any bumps in the road in that relationship, he is simply not going to give her the benefit of the doubt like the girl who chose him in her 20s would get. She has no goodwill to draw upon.
So you see its about looks yes, but its about a lot more than that too......
And women being abused by their alcoholic, philandering husbands.
The men here act like men can do no wrong, but I know too many women who were used as punching bags by just such men, and some actually hospitalized as a result.
And yet they are blanket condemned for initiating the divorce. And they’re supposed to just stay in the *marriage* and put up with it?
The mentality that women are just property, live in housekeepers with privileges, or trophies is a big turn off to women.
Where’s the condemnation of men for being drunk, cheating, wife abusers?
Not a single man will defend a man who is a drunk or abuser or serial cheat or any other bad quality you can think of.
But there are plenty of women who will defend a celibate marriage and blame the man if he walks from that.
Prove it.

Everybody enters into a relationship wanting certain things from a mate. That's not specific to either males or females.

True. And it would be far better if each were realistic about what they have to offer/where they rate - and did not think the opposite sex is stupid/selfish/shallow/greedy etc etc for liking what they actually like instead of liking what the other thinks they "should" like.
That doesn't explain the attraction so many women have towards the bad buy types.
For men it’s simple. “Why buy the cow when the milk is free?” Women wanted independence, they wanted equality, they wanted to be left to their own devices and you know what? They had that all along. They accepted a false narrative from the left and they ran with that. Now they are making excuses.
They biggest bait and switch is feminism. A feminist is an independent woman, who has a career, a family and the ability to make things happen. Sarah Palin comes to mind as the penultimate feminist.
And that’s what scares the left.
It would help if men did what was needed to deserve it.
Those are bad spouses and I wouldn't blame anybody for giving someone like that the heave-ho. That said, that is not the cause in the large majority of all divorces according to the data.
That's what the data shows from the studies I've read.
