We're going to go after — we're going after him in every way.
And, by the way, the people before who said he'd be shamed and come to the table, that's the exact opposite of what that is. So you can't have it both ways. But I would say this. We are — we — in 2017, when he was last here, Nancy Pelosi and I said we're going to go after him on health care. He was very unpopular with that. We're going to go after him on tax breaks for the rich.
And then we won the House and picked up some seats in the Senate in 2018. Same thing is going to happen now. And we're going to go after him in so many different ways. We are doing much better on the social media led by Cory Booker and Tina Smith in our house. And so we're reaching people who were not reached before.
We are — we are mobilizing in New York. We have people going to the Republican districts and going after — going after these Republicans who are voting for this and forcing them to either face — change their vote or face the consequences. This is a long, relentless fight that we fight every day.
And I am confident that we will bring Trump's popularity numbers and strength down if we keep at it and keep at it and keep at it.
This pretty much says it all. Republicans in Congress must answer not to their constituents but to bussed-in activists?
Don't think so.
They have no cards
When political parties start believing their own propaganda, they fail.
Even now, instead of listening to voters, talking about a change in policy, their only goal is “Get Trump”.
Bill Clinton’s “era of big government is over”
Trump stating so even a 4th grader can understand, “they have to go back or we won’t have a country”. And acting on it.
Shutdown is better by far.
If that is your goal, you will fail.
Why not focus on doing what is best for the American people?
HE ACTS AS THO THIS VOTE WAS A COMPLETE SURPRISE SPRUNG ON THE DEMS AT THE LAST MINUTE.
The private polls they paid for said that the marx-o-crats would be blamed for a shutdown.
Schumer is also smart enough to understand the fine print on how shutdowns actually work.
Guess what happens to the Federal District Courts during a shut-down?
Almost nobody knows the answer.
It is complicated since they have some operating cash flow from fines (for example)—but at the end of day they would have to beg Bondi for money to stay open—and she would have every right to give them the middle finger and say “no”.
“We have people going to the Republican districts . . .”
That says it all. It’s not hard dissent from the Republican districts. It’s astroturf, paid, operatives from outside the district pretending to be normal people.
The left is too stupid to know that Schumer was right on this.
A shutdown would have given Trump the green light to close everything and fire everyone regardless of what any court said.
Now Schumer can sell his book. Maybe the publisher will lose money.
