The indoor track championships in Virginia were marred by a brazen attack by one runner when she used the baton in her relay race as a weapon against an opponent.
The attack took place during the 4x200m relay event of the VSHL Class 3 State Indoor Championships held on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg.
Kaelen Tucker was running the second leg of the relay for Lynchburg's Brookville High School when she went to make a pass around another runner in a battle for second place.
Rather than fight fair, her opponent in that battle - who attended IC Norcom High School in the Hampton Roads area of the state - decided to take more aggressive action.
The Norcom runner wound her right arm back and smacked the baton she was carrying across Tucker's head as seen on video of the incident.
Gasps were heard inside the Liberty Indoor Track Complex as Tucker slowed down, stumbled, and then fell to the ground on the interior of the course.
Her mother and team trainers were seen rushing to her aid as the Norcom runner appeared to continue on her way.
'I still can't believe it, I'm in shock.' said Tucker, who is resting at home with her family, according to local ABC affiliate WSET. 'I'm still trying to take it all in, I can't believe it happened.'
Judges at the meet were able to see the attack and disqualified Norcom's team for 'contact interference' - or physically interfering with another runner's actions.
WSET says Tucker is currently being treated for a concussion and a possible skull fracture.

One comment:
She’s got a bad track record...
Next on today’s episode of “Reinforcing Stereotypes”...
Not her fault. They told her that there would be more people at the event than she could shake a stick at.
Used to be you’d put on a uniform draw up your forces and declare war on your opponent but now it’s a smash and grab, a school shooting, coming across a border and committing violence and smashing your opponent on the head with a runners baton. This is how war is fought now and make no mistake the world is at war on a thousand fronts each and every day.
“The very predictable results of eliminating The Lord God from society.”
Yep. As soon as the umpire is ignored as irrelevant thugs and those who squawk the loudest take over the game.
“Fortunately President Trump is trying to reintroduce God to society”
Which explains precisely why he is so hated by thugs and those who squawk the loudest.
Click through - look at the vid - black on black.
I was surprised- thought for sure - black on white

I was a HS track official. You could always tell the Cross Country people because it’s a full contact sport. They are always shocked when they get DQ’ed in track.
The batons are hollow and made of aluminum.
She’s a real whack job!
My son’s team held the state record in the 4X50 in their class and he verified you can give someone a concussion with one of those batons.
It’s easy to be a record holder when it is the first year after they regroup. Every 1st place was a record.
There may be a law in that state about not naming juveniles unless they are charged as an adult; and not naming the parent so as not to identify the child. I've read of that kind of rule in other locales.
Hoping the parents of the injured child are consulting with a lawyer. I'm tired of the shakedown lawsuits, but this was a gratuitous assault.
Do i REALLY NEED TO LOOK?
Friendly african
looks race-related....
liberty is a christian school.
the other school is not.
Both the individual victim and the aggressor are black. but the christian black girl (with her white privilege christian university background) appears to the aggressor most likely a hetero-sexual white christian... aka: black in name only.
you know... like clarence thomas and ben carson... they just look black.. inside they are clearly white... right?
</sarcasm>
its all pink on the inside.
